Trooper Taylor

Trooper Taylor is a sorry POS that openly campaigned for the OC spot when Sanders was fired.

Instead of being a man about wanting the job, he took "his guys" (players he recruited to Tennessee) and tried to hold Fulmer hostage with them by getting them to threaten to transfer if TT left.

Look at the guys he recruited to Tennessee. With the exception of Gerald Jones, I don't think any were able to get in with no trouble and stay out of trouble while they were enrolled.

It's funny that I know someone that was recruited by Trooper Taylor when he was with us. My buddy is a life long Bama fan and Trooper had him ready to come to Tennessee had he had his grades right.

“She said Auburn's coaches "weren't very intelligent" and was especially critical of Taylor, who she says "got a lot of lies in there when he was talking."

“How did players from Thibodaux, La., become so interested in Auburn?” Lorio asks. “That’s a really good question. Trooper Taylor and Sean Nelson would know.”

Of course he did. He wasted a lot of time and effort on a guy that wasn't going to make it in to Tennessee and no other big time school was recruiting heavily.

No offense to your buddy, but Trooper did this a lot.

Come on guys. These guys have to get up for every practice, game, series, and down. He is the best at keeping his players motivated. He definitely leaves his mark on his players. For those of you that saw the pregame hugs that he got the last time AU was in town would see what he meant to UT players even though it had been 2 years since he had been their coach. Thats why he is good at recruiting. The kids want to play for him.

He maybe a fantastic motivator, but he's still trash.

Honestly, there isn't much here. A lot of recruiting success, disliking his style, trying to become the OC and some lies on the recruiting trail.

I thought maybe we had something a little more substantial than this to account for all the animosity towards the guy.

Berry? Although I don't think getting him took a lot out of Trooper, despite what Auburn fans may claim.

The man had players campaign to Fulmer to get him the OC position. He used the trust they had in him to his advantage and put them in a situation that could potentially have them in Phil's doghouse. I'm sure that kind of division really hurt Dave Clawson, as well. If you read some of Josh Beiscoe's comments it's obvious he didn't ever buy in. Then, of course, he pulls a similar stunt with Gerald Jones and now he's hated by the ?Vol fanbase. But hey, at least Trooper's recruiting rep got a bump.

Actually they stopped recruiting my buddy after they found out he may have some trouble getting in. He was a very good athlete that had 5 picks playing CB only when the game was on the line late in the 4th quarter. That's what all the SEC schools were recruiting him to play. Trooper told him he could play whatever he wanted knowing that he was no more than a CB(5'10 170lbs). He did have 4.4 speed and could hit as well as cover. But Trooper Taylor was lieing his ass off to him trying to get him up there.

Do you guys think TT started out dirty, or do you think some agent / booster got to him during the "desperate" years (last 2 to 3) under Fulmer?

Also, if birds of a feather flock together, why do think Kiffin didn't keep him around?
