True Blood

I find it hard to watch any scene that she is alone with someone, it means she is going to talk...a lot

I'm trying to figure out what the point was in bringing back Niall for that episode and you guys are complaining about Sookie being annoying. Sheesh!

Was it wrong to have thoroughly enjoyed watching Jessica and Adalyn tied up in Violet's house? This is HBO dangit, why weren't they naked?!

So Bill is just going to go out like that, wallow in self pity? Just drink her blood and shut up man.

He's probably just tired of hearing Sookie breath. I am.

Really, and I mean REALLY, sad how absolutely sh*tty the writing on TB has become.

The show has become the Southern/Cajun version of Twilight, and I mean that in the worst possible way.

In defense of true blood, it was written before twilight.

Not this season, or last season.

This was probably one of the worst episodes so far this season. There was so little going on in it. The only good scene I saw was the sex scene with Jessica towards the very end.

But each season was based off a book series that came out prior to twilight.

I've always thought twilight ripped true blood off in a lot of ways.

Well, officially the first Sookie Stackhouse book came out 4 years before the first Twilight book. So naturally there were 4 Sookie Stackhouse books that came out before the first Twilight book. That said the TB show didn't take long to deviate from the books. I've never personally compared Twilight to TB because Twilight was literally a vampire/werewolf drama. I don't think anyone even died on screen until the third movie or something. TB was by far more graphic and far more entertaining.

Both have the "I can hear other peoples thoughts but not yours" thing going on.

Both have a girl who picks a vampire over a werewolf.

In both the female lead turns out to have supernatural powers.

I think Twilight was meant to be a more PC version of true blood so that it would have broader appeal. But I could be biased because I hate all teen literature.

I don't recall Bella being telepathic.
Girls falling in love with vampires is a cliched story line, so it's a fairly generic idea.
Bella's "shield" seemed more like a poorly thought out, last minute change.
I'd call it more of a younger kid/teenage appeal compared to TB's obviously targeted adult crowd.

Twilight was absolutely terrible. A girl tried to get me to watch it, I made it till he "sparkled" and made her watch Evil Dead 2 instead.

She's not telepathic but Edward can read minds. That's why he's attracted to her, because he can't hear her thoughts. Another part of the story that seems completely stolen from true blood.

He can read minds? I guess I don't remember that.

Perhaps it's not in the movies but yes. In the books he can. Apparently Bella's shield when she becomes a vampire was why he couldn't read her mind. Some kinda lame power of hers that is never explained.

I think that part is def a true blood rip off.

By the way, the blonde (girl Hoyt left) looked 10x hotter in this episode. I wasn't into her at first, but she's growing on me.

Did you mean each series was based off on a book series? Because season wise True Blood left the books long ago.

Ripped off is such a strong word when you can say that about anything now a days. So I guess I can say True Blood ripped off the Vampire Diaries (those books came out in the 90's)? What about Laura Hamilton's Anita Blake series that also came out before True Blood (as soon as I heard of True Blood I told my wife that they sound a lot like Hamilton's books)? These are a just a few I can think of off the top of my head.

The point is tonally and pretty much overall True Blood and Twilight are completely different, but neither have a very original basic premise. To be honest overall neither are really that good. Twilight is awful, but True Blood has it's groan worthy moments (the last couple of seasons have been full of them). I would never call either of them well written (both books and adaptions).

Yeah, finally got to get to know her a little better this episode. Safe to say I'd hit it. :)
