Trump called Roseanne Barr to congratulate her on huge ratings success

How about trump

How about him? Are there established parameters for dealing with politicians that make controversial statements? I don't remember it being an impeachable offense. Certainly his foes can use it against him if he runs for reelection. Elected officials aren't in a position of simply being fired. If they were, I think you'd see mass firings on both sides of the aisle.

If your question is more along the lines of do I think Trump should abandon Twitter and the insults, of course I do. I've stated that in the past. But once again, character is not an impeachable offense.

Ultimately, being they're both TV personalities, I think you can draw parallels between Roseanne and Bee, their actions, and how each was dealt with. Trump exists in a separate arena with unique rules. Thinking he's wrong is fine. I agree that his character is poor. The way to express that is don't vote for him.

He called the news media the enemy of the people which is worse and far more damaging than all of the other insults combined. The POTUS called the news media the enemy of the people. I'm not sure you guys understand the magnitude of that statement.

Yah. It's a huge deal!

But the more he points it out the less of an enemy they can be.

If you agree that the news media is the enemy of the people, then nothing else need be said.

One more great litmus test.

Apparently I don't understand the magnitude then. The current state of our "news" media, I do think they are the enemy of free thought. Whether it's Fox or CNN, both push a narrative for people to believe. It hasn't been just news in a long time. It's more like here's what's happening and here's how you should feel about it.

If they simply reported the news, I would agree with you. Unfortunately they do more than report, they create.

If you can't see how the media's constant obsession with the destruction of Trump is damaging the country, then you truly are a sheep.

Hell, CNN even had an Ex-CIA officer verbally threaten a sitting President of the United States. But I guess that isn't damaging to the country is it?

This is a great point. Imo, these so called news outlets should remove all the opinion, if they truly want to be considered news. That means partisan spin shows like Maddow,Lemon, Hannity, and the like. Also, web based opinion pieces hidden within the actual news. When you pull up Fox or CNN, a good percentage of what you read is opinion, rather than simply reporting, and it's not anyways clearly labeled as such. This was all born out of the 24 hour news cycle. News organizations needed filler for tv and internet. It all should go away. We don't need all that. Just report the news. Leave opinion to other sources. Of course, the opinion shows no doubt make more money than the straight news, meaning it isn't going to change.

There is a big difference between the way news stories are selected, produced, and edited on the 3 major national networks versus the cable news networks which have given tv news a bad name. However, the majority of viewers who still look to television for "hard news" reporting, are still turning to their local outlets, where bias can exist, but where there usually isn't much analysis or editorializing (Sinclair has recently challenged this notion, though).

The media is never the "enemy of the people" as our current President says. Only an authoritarian would feel that way. Nor are they the "enemy of free thought" unless you need to be told how to interpret what you're hearing and seeing.

I agree with Trump. The media are the enemy of the people. All they do is lie to us. That's not a friend my man.

Not my point. How does anybody take him seriously when he whines about name calling? The conservatives are enamored with trump for exposing the hypocrisy of the left... news flash trump is the biggest offender.

This is where Trump scores huge points with the rednecks and yahoos of this country. You know, those who really have no idea about true patriotism

Really? His first tweet didn't defend his daughter. He didn't mention her.

BTW, I agree with defending one's daughter. I certainly would, but trump does get exposed as a complete hypocrite when does so.

...and notice how he never actually condemned Roseanne Barr's comment about Valerie Jarrett. In fact, nobody in the White House has. His focus was on how he is (supposedly) owed an apology from ABC and on how Samantha Bee should also be fired.
