Trump called Roseanne Barr to congratulate her on huge ratings success

We all know that if, Comedian x called Valerie Jarrett a feckless **** on TBS 3 years ago, that you would be calling for their head right now.

IMUS-BE-AN-IDIOT - The Washington Post

HEY, DID you hear what Don Imus said about Hillary Clinton? It's a song parody that ridicules how she "fornicates," "menstruates" and "urinates," and includes the refrain: "That's why the First Lady is a tramp."

Imus played this song constantly while Hilary was first lady.
You know what ended up getting him fired years later? Calling the Rutgers' women's basketball team nappy headed hos.

Got to know your audience.

Some good points.

I think there are a couple of differences:
1. Bee made the comments on her show which is known to constantly bash Trump in a "humorous" borderline offensive way. That's her job. Like Hannity and Limbaugh are paid to bash the left.

2. Twitter is viewed as a public forum. Had Barr made the comment during a stand up routine at a comedy club, it would have still been inappropriate, but less so. You expect to hear inappropriate and controversial things at a comedy club. Twitter is a relatively new forum and what constitutes appropriate use is still evolving. Trump lags on the evolutionary scale.

Yes, so if Rosanne had called her a c**t and it made the headlines of every paper she would still be employed today? Not that I want to see her employed, total idiot.

Luther, instead of excusing it, why not just admit you're perfectly okay with Samantha Bee spewing hate because she's a liberal attacking someone on the right? You obviously feel the left should be allowed to use tactics you would consider wrong and deserving of punishment if they came from the right, aimed at the left. That's what a double standard is. Just own it. Obviously there are people on the right who are the same. I'm not sure anyone has denied that. But this dance you're doing trying to justify your personal double standard is kind of sad. Why not just admit you're a hypocrite? It would be far simpler, and it's something most are aware of anyway.

Roseanne was wrong. She's paid for it. Samantha Bee was wrong. Nothing's happened.

Imus is a hate filled dipsh!t.

MSNBC issued a statement Friday absolving host Joy Reid of writing “hateful” blog posts — and does not address the FBI investigation that Reid claimed to have initiated in April while claiming that a hacker wrote politically toxic sentiments on her old website The Reid Report.

“Some of the things written by Joy on her old blog are obviously hateful and hurtful,” the statement reads. “They are not reflective of the colleague and friend we have known at MSNBC for the past seven years. Joy has apologized publically and privately and said she has grown and evolved in the many years since, and we know this to be true.”

I wonder if Roseann can get a show with that network. You are bulletproof on MSNBC.

Sure. If her job was as a stand up comedian and she did it as part of her stand up routine.

Not at all. I have stated that I think Hanity has done more harm to our country than any other single person but I have never stated that he should be fired or not allowed to spew his hate filled nonsense. I never cried for Imus to be fired. I don't recall screaming for anyone to be fired (other than Trump), but you guys have a vested interest in portraying me as a biased liberal hypocrite, so please continue. Have at it.

He is. But the point was, he had no repercussions for any of the vile things he said about the First Lady, but when he insulted people with racial stereotypes, it was judged to be over the line and resulted in his firing.

It just seems to have a lot of parallels to what is currently being discussed. And it's not the left / right thing to which everyone is trying to make it.

That was me refuting your claim.

By posting a story about some other dumbass who said something they shouldn’t have? You don’t teach debate do you?

lol....Debate? Read your first post. How do you debate that?

I know....no I wouldn't have. Is that the debate for which you were fishing.

Three years ago, if someone would have told you Trump would be president, you would have gone berserk and screamed that you would never support that idiot.

See what I mean?

He’s accomplished more in 16 months than the previous three predecessors combined, imagine what he could do if you guys weren’t hellbent on obstruction

I just wonder how they "know this to be true"? Didn't she lie to them at first, claiming she didn't say those things? How does that lead to trust?

There you go again with those demeaning stereotypes.

Remember:

Democrat feelz = Republican dumbness
Well, which of Trump's policies have had such a detrimental effect on you folks, that they make you all act like a bunch of whiny schoolgirls? Or, is it just a feeling?

Your side honestly acts mentally ill over Trump's election. I have never seen such obsessive behavior over losing an election. You all hang on his every word.

'72,

It's what he's done to public discourse. He's damaged the fabric of the nation. He's intentionally conditioning people to ignore facts and believe whatever they wish. He promotes (and exhibits) all of the worst traits and qualities in individuals and society.

You view all of this as "feeling".

I view not seeing this and acknowledging the significance as "dumb".

Truthfully, the impact he has on my wallet is of no big concern to me. In the short term, he will probably be good for my wallet.

Nothing could be further from the truth, he’s exposing the lies and the hypocrisy of the left and that’s why you guys are ****ing losing it. you had better save some energy and Kleenex for November 😂

We seem to have opposite views. Nothing is going to change that for us - we're both to extreme. The middle 40 percent will decide.

What Frank said. The Senate will go further Republican. The House will remain in Republican control, and more Supreme Court vacancies will be filled by Trump.

I get your point and there's really no point in debating moral relevance with two comments like those. But doesn't it bother you slightly that Bee's comments WEREN'T off the cuff? Somebody wrote that, put it in a script, said it, edited it etc. and didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with it.
