Not really. I think Fauci would've recognized that Trump wasn't taking it as seriously as it should've been taken, which is why he went and did all the Sunday news shows the week before the country shutdown. Not taking something as seriously as it it should be taken isn't the same as lying.

The accusation is Trump lied. Well this interview was in February. Fauci was front center during press conferences at this time. Trump’s comments about COVID have certainly been presented for Fauci to comment. To your point he has been on the Sunday morning shows. I also assume Fauci would be keeping a strong eye on POTUS’s comments. An unfortunate but actual part of his job.

So if Trump had said "This virus is really bad" and proceeded to do the exact same policies... No one would have died.

It's like you believe the virus hangs on Trump's every word the same way you guys do.
