They still pay for power you produce. I just went to the website. It's called Dispersed Power Production Program.
That's good to know. Thanks for the info. No reason to hold off on my installation, the tax credits are reducing considerably.

If this pans out, you just made my day.đź‘Ť

I think what they removed is the subsidy that helped pay some of the upfront costs. But I'm not sure if that subsidy was coming from the govt or from rate payers/revenue.

Honestly, someone's solar forum posting concerning the GPP program caused me to hold off on my 10kw system install. If I'd looked a little further, I guess I would have found that.

My expectation was that I would eventually do it, but only be given kilowatt hour credits from my local provider.

Anyway, the federal tax credit for solar equipment is 26% this year, 22% next year, then falls off to 10%.

Maybe we can have those ugly ass windmills that ruin the landscape in the west here in the southeast? Perhaps add in a few solar farms for good measure?

There’s barely enough sunlight in this area on a daily/annual average basis to power all those damned solar landscape lights my wife planted around the house.

I think for smaller KW solar connections, you're technically selling to your local utility anyways. TVA then probably works out a deal with each of the distributors.

Finally we have a President with some balls that has fired the chairman of the TVA board for getting rid of American workers and replacing them with H1B workers from India.

https://nypost.com/2020/08/03/trump-calls-for-firing-of-top-paid-official-over-outsourcing/
Lamar Alexander... you just gotta love him.

Trump fires Tennessee Valley Authority chair over compensation, outsourcing

The order followed the TVA’s announcement that it would outsource 20% of its technology jobs to companies based in foreign countries. TVA’s action could cause more than 200 highly skilled American tech workers in Tennessee to lose their jobs to foreign workers hired on temporary work visas, according to the White House.

But Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee said the TVA doesn’t get any taxpayer money. Commenting on the issue in April, Alexander said the White House was spreading misinformation. He said that TVA chief executive officers’ pay is lower than other large utilities and that TVA energy rates are among the lowest in the nation.

What does TVA receiving or not receiving taxpayer money have to do with the price of tea in China? Or the salary of the CEO?

He fired him yet he calls for the firing? So he didn’t fire him?
Trump told reporters at the White House he’s firing TVA board chairman James Thompson and board member Richard Howorth for laying off dozens of IT workers while hiring foreign replacements. Trump said Lyash will soon lose his job too.

“We’re getting rid of [Lyash] in one form or another. Either the board’s gonna do it, or we’re gonna do it, but he’s gone,” he said.

These f sticks are still considered federal employees and all of them serve at the pleasure of the president, so I'm guessing he's gone one way or the other. Good riddance. I am so sick of companies "outsourcing" US workers with foreign works to save 50 cents.

So you're okay with TVA firing US IT workers and replacing them with H1B workers? Just so we're straight about the issue? I really don't GAS about janitors and window washers.
How did you come to that conclusion?

I'm not okay with ANY American losing their job to a H1B worker just so a CEO can get a 20% raise. Apparently you are okay with some jobs being taken, just not all.

When are you cool with Americans losing jobs to H1B workers? All situations involving not enriching CEOs? Good grief.

I'm okay with menial jobs being done by people with no skills which is what is coming across our southern border, you know the illegals. I'm not okay with firing American workers so you can hire a few number johnny five workers to take their place and save $100k. If you don't like it do as Biden told the coal miners and "learn to code" so you too can be laid off and replaced with an Indian.
