Trump Launches New Communications Platform months after Twitter, Facebook Ban

Dude, he was more divisive than most politicians and all presidents (at least in my lifetime) and this is not debatable. Politicians beef, but you can't deny that he is the biggest common denominator we've ever seen. He literally beefed with everybody, including many members of his staff and supporters within the Republican party. Imagine George W Bush calling Rand Paul a "truly weird senator" and saying "he reminds me of a spoiled brat without a properly functioning brain" because Trump did that. I don't remember any president ever sayng anything like that. I have a hard time thinking of any politician who has said something like that. He was calling NFL players sons of bitches and telling their bosses how to handle them. The **** just goes on and on. Maybe you can show me some examples of a president being this divisive? I doubt it.

Y'all can't see the forest for the trees.

So, now it's "most" politicians...

So, now it's "most" politicians...

That's all you got?

He's the most divisive I can think of, but there is probably a mayor or a losing politician I'm not thinking of. David Duke? Who is more divisive? You have failed to come up with one name or one example, though multiple posters are asking for this.

Carter was hot garbage. He was weak and not respected by any one in the world. Iran and the hostages.......

You know what...I actually don’t care what you think about this.

^ As you're losing the debate, you avoid the question, deflect, then mid-deflection you take your ball and go home. Forgot why I usually keep you on ignore.

I've barely given you my thoughts. I'm just telling you facts about Carter deregulation and you don't want to hear it.

Let's see...

He said politicians, which means everyone is fair game.

Yes, a half dozen off the top of my head that are just as (or even more) divisive than Trump.

The presidential megaphone is so much louder than that of anyone else that there's really no comparison. What trump said was heard - and reacted to - around the world. Very few people overseas care about what AOC or Marjorie Taylor Greene say. Watchers of MSNBC and Fox News get fired up by the latter, but otherwise most folks domestically don't care too much. Everyone has an opinion on trump - and a big part of that is his style - which is divisive.

Seriously, WTF. Carter inherited a disaster and the decade that followed was pretty great. What did you expect him to do? Fix the worst economy since the great depression overnight?

Trump inherited an upward bound economy and squandered it with bad economic policies and runaway spending. But at least the first 2 years were pretty good, I guess. You give him way too much credit for that.

Carter was a good man but completely ineffective as a President. Reagan made big changes and what followed was an incredible, expansive economy, not of Carter’s doing. I’m old enough to remember both administrations. Trump policies put the economy in overdrive. He spent too much, but he didn’t squander anything. Business/economic growth and employment were humming.

Is this meant to be ironic?

Both get credit. What did Reagan do? Mostly, he just lowered taxes and increase spending. Cool. Carter fundamentally changed the economy for the better, by literally getting the government out of the way through deregulation. He deregulated 3 major industries (financial, trucking, and air travel), and we're still collecting the benefits of these triumphs 4.5 decades later. What did Reagan do for the economy that lasted with that kind of impact?

Air travel was not affordable to the average American in 1975 and everybody was flying by 1985. Think about that.
Good post. Carter had a snake-bitten presidency, for sure. One of the most embarrassing low points in the history of the United States Armed Forces was "Operation Eagle Claw", or the catastrophic attempt to rescue the hostages in Iran. Helicopters collided with each other. 8 or 9 servicemen died. That wasn't Carter's fault, but his bacon was burned after that.

One mistake that he did make was the decision to boycott the Moscow Olympics in 1980. That should have been left up to the individual athlete. It cemented the role of politics in the Olympics... it didn't have to be that way.

Uhhhh
What debate?
You mean that tangent you were waiting to run off on?
You want to get back on topic we can talk.
I’m not surprised you’re so weak minded you need to put people on ignore. At least you own your weaknesses

I did spend a lot of time wishing that Trump would stay off Twitter.
Edit: it’s not a surprise that his blog didn’t go well

LBJ would signal that interviews were over by whipping out his penis and twirling it in plain view.

Lincoln's moustache sucked.

We can find fault with all our elected leaders.

You don't understand what happened in either case, it doesn't matter if you are old enough to have lived it. Trump's GDP growth largely came from increases in government spending. He was selling you a fake economy built by your own money and debt.

So you lived Carter and we're supposed to believe your position and all you have to say is he was "ineffective" and I'm spitting facts about massive deregulation, and I haven't even mentioned that he appointed Paul Volker to the fed, who got inflation under control.

You guys create whatever reality you want. I didn't like Carter, then I learned this stuff and changed my mind. This is how we're supposed to react to new information. You guys just double down.

William Howard Taft got stuck in a bathtub.

I was going to offer LBJ as a Trump comparable. The world was larger, then. LBJ didn't pop off in public. And the press buried things until he was gone. But I've read he was a real sonofabutch to almost everyone.

Maxine Waters?

Joe McCarthy?

Lyndon Johnson?

MTG?

Adam Sciff?

Lori Lightfoot?

Want me to continue?

Not since Big Tech decided they can silence whomever they want and whomever doesn't agree with their political views...

IDK who MTG is and I don't even really know who Schiff or Lightfoot are. Maybe (but I doubt it) some of these guys are more divisive but the scale at which they can create division doesn't even come close to Trump. How was LBJ more divisive than Trump? I know him to be divisive among politicians but I didn't know him for especially dividing Americans.

The only person who I can begin to fathom being as divisive as Trump is Joe McCarthy, but even that is a completely different, narrowly focused form of division.

With the exception of Clinton, the same can be said for every president in last 20 years wrt spending, Trump included. Bush can be categorized the same way, Obama’s was atrocious and Biden now plugging for a 6T spending package. Difference is Trump’s changes to the tax code and unshackling businesses from regulation helped tremendously. Talk to some business owners. No doubt Volker tamed inflation, but that’s about the only thing Carter had going for him.

There are many myths about Presidents that take on a life of their own, over time. George Washington and the cherry true, for example. It could be one of those, I guess. Someday, it may even be told that Trump's hair was real?
I remember I was once told that research on elephants brains show that they react to seeing humans the way we do seeing a cute kitten or puppy. It made me happy to know elephants thought we were cute. I was very sad to find out that wasn’t true.

I chose to believe that Taft got his fat ass stuck in the tub.

My business rocked under the Trump deregulation. I set up for the Biden economy 6 months before the election.
