Trump on track for Supreme Court Victory on Census Citizenship Question

I didn’t say it was inconsequential. It indeed has consequences as again district sizing and resource budgeting are impacted by this count. Your rationale is illegals who fill it out will just lie. They probably will. So let’s extend your logic and just do away with the census?

Shouldn't we count citizens for district sizing and resource budgeting?

Yep. And only citizens. So let’s put a question on there that validates their status. Legal residents would have to check “no” of course.

How about instead we change it to:

Citizenship Status
  1. Citizen
  2. Naturalized Citizen
  3. Legal Resident or Work Visa
  4. Illegal ******* who has no business being here

Better? 😈

Right, it's still the party of the KKK but it has a new boogyman. You're starting to get it. Right on man. Proud of you.
The new boogeymen are the white men, the Christians, the gun owners, the climate change realists, the rich, and the straight people. They are giving them daily lashes with a cat o' nine tails now.

Do you think anyone who listed their name and address on a census form would admit to being an illegal? That is like giving ICE the key to your front door.

On that we do agree. How you get accurate answers (and actually believing they are so) on a census form is a real dilemma. However, I don't mind at all the reminder that someone is here illegally and a false answer is a lie.

I was just struggling to think of who the public could possibly find more horrendously despicable than Trump.

Apparently your short term memory is failing you. Obama. Longer term - LBJ definitely more despicable than Trump. Carter was just a hopeless fool. Clinton was as crooked as they come, but he got plenty of good credit for screwing stuff up ... he cooked the financial books.

If your municipality is working on funding to get infrastructure rebuilt or repaired do you want to know total usage or just usage by citizens? Bridges, roads, hospitals, schools, fire, police, etc need an accurate load estimate

Then have the non-citizens answer the question “no” and move on since their presence should have zero impact on Congressional representation for which census data is used to aid in determining district count and sizing.

Why is it a necessary question? The people living and working there should be represented appropriately

You want to know all usage but when it comes to a much much more important matter like reapportionment you want to know how many citizens live there.

Why is this being ignored?

You want our congressional representatives representing illegal aliens? You want them making policy and law with their needs being equal to yours? Do you want your state and its citizens to lose a house seat in favor of another state because of the population of illegals residing their?

I want them to have a different status than the illegal moniker. If that happens as it should and they are living/working in a community then they should be represented. That part is not as important as giving them the ability to live, drive, pay taxes, etc without fear of being separated from their children. It also gives us jobs being filled that aren't currently

They don't have to be separated, when the parents are deported all the anchor babies can follow them back across the Rio Grande

The argument from the critics is that the administration is doing this so as to cause some portion of illegal alien recipients not to answer, thereby reducing the resources delivered to areas in which they live and reduce representation of such areas in Congress.

Many folks here seem to think that is a perfectly fine rationale for doing so.

Beware Soros-Funded Hijacking of US Census

"Are you a U.S. citizen?"

Only in self-defeating, sovereignty-eroding America is the idea of asking whether people living in America are American citizens for the American census a matter of controversy.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments on whether the Trump administration can include a citizenship question on the high-stakes 2020 Census questionnaire. Thank goodness, the conservative majority indicated support for allowing it. There's already such a question on the annual American Community Survey administered by the Census Bureau. It was asked in long-form questionnaires sent to a sample of households in 2000. And it was regularly asked in historical census forms from 1820-1950.

But we live in a Trump-deranged age, so now it's tantamount to an international human rights crime to ask anyone about citizenship status at any time for any reason. Heaven forbid we inconvenience or discomfit legal noncitizens or illegal immigrants with a question!

Open borders activists, left-wing immigration lawyers and identity politics radicals exploded on cue:

Beware Soros-Funded Hijacking of US Census

Yes rational people think that way. Why would we waste resources on people that should not be here and why should they have absolutely any bearing on voting or representation?
