Trump press conference

Lashing out is better than taking criminal action against reporters (leaks), getting their phone and email records or secretly labeling them unindicted co-conspirators.

He didn't ban CNN like Team Obama tried to do with Fox.

How soon the wacky left-wing loons forget about such things.

Yep. Maybe Trump should forego Twitter and quietly put the IRS to good use instead?

No, he refused to answer questions from CNN at his press conference. I have high hopes for certain aspects of his presidency, but I know that he is going to be an embarrassment in the manner in which he carries himself.

The good thing is we have had 8 years of experience dealing with this feeling.

You might disagree from a fundamental perspective with Obama, but he carries himself with a certain degree of decorum and class. Buffoonery seems to be the norm with Trump.

As I stated, I have hope for certain fiscal policies that he may try to implement. I am very concerned about foreign policy issues and I do not hold out for much in the way of social issues. It's a trade off. He may be just the guy to start change with regard to the way our government operates in an economic sense.

I don't expect to see much from Trump, not that he won't try but I suspect any major initiatives in changing the tax code, regulations and such will be thwarted in congress.

I don't think he will be an embarrassment.

So you expect him to lay off the tweets?

And yet he still spent more on the military than any president in history?

We still need to cut at least 25% from the military budget.

Yeah! Let's just cut more Soldiers. We can deploy them more. We can equip them less and give them less training for their missions. Benefits? They don't need it!

Nope, don't need any of that. Just like we didn't need it in the early 90s. Soldiers don't need to train with live rounds, need new equipment or time off. It's good for morale.

Other countries spend less because we spend more. Our strategic alliances let the European countries pretty much scrap their militaries.

So if I am right, according to the liberal perspective, we need to cut military spending but we need to pursue sanctions and potential conflict with Russia while bombing our asymmetric enemies into oblivion? How does that work?

That might be true. This is where I have high hopes for Trump. In government, there is a mentality that if you save money it's a bad thing because they will take it from you next year. Government employees need to be paid like private sector employees. Save money, get a bonus. waste money, get fired.
We do

From my perspective, we need to spend less and deploy less. We can stop being the world's police and let other countries spend themselves into oblivion. We've got most of the aircraft carriers on the planet and the newest of which cost 13B to make and about 7M PER DAY to operate. If a country wants us to have a military base in their country they need to pay all of the costs of said base. If they don't want them... pack it in.

How very libertarian of you.

You're coming towards the dark side. We welcome you.
