I have never understood that. A party that traditionally includes racists politicians and prominent KKK members is supported by the Black Caucus.

The parties switched views. There used to be a lot of conservatives in the democratic party. Not any more.

They were called Southern Democrats and they still exist. The big difference between the parties is the philosophical view of government's role. Dems back then, just like now, believe the government has the right to dictate what you can and can't do. What you can and can't buy. True conservatives (not Republicans) want minimal government involvement. The government they do want involved should be state and local level.

Trump actually said two things I'm in strong agreement with and I hope he is successful.
1. Make VA health care better.
2. Blow up the pharmaceutical industry. (been wanting this one for years)

Ironically, these are both two things fought for by Bill Clinton and Obama.

Also, I heard Ivanka in an interview today. She is dedicating her energies on evening the playing field for women in the work force. (May not be as bad as I had feared)

We can only hope that our elected officials, regardless of affiliation, do something to make our country better. There is never going to be a unanimous election. I wasn't thrilled at the prospect of Trump as president but I am willing to give him his first hundred days , like I did Obama, to pass judgement. Politicians are always going to tell people what they want to hear and rarely live up to their promises.

Because I have a mind of my own, not everything in my life is or was about the military. When I retired last year the majority of people I knew in the military liked Obama, from the ones I still keep in touch with they couldn't stand Hillary or Trump.

I work with all kinds of guys out of the military from retirees to those that did the minimum. None of them liked Obama. Not. one.

Doesn't explain the reverence for Robert Byrd - the man was a dang Grand Wizard but the Dems loved him.

OTOH, Trent Lott made a throw away comment about Strom Thurmond and had to resign as Senate majority leader.

It's utter BS how the race card is played by Dem officials.

When is the last time you wore a uniform??? The military has changed which is why I retired. I got sick of the snot bubbling kids who feel entitled and the fact that everything became black and white when it came to rules. I would never encourage my kids or anyone else's kids to join the military, it's become political and world of Ass kissing and back stabbing

Where do you work??? I work in a very blue area and the military retirees and AD love it here because it's a very open minded community.
