Meaning “I’ll have that war shut down in 24 hours”. That’s essentially the same as Vols by Fiddy. He’s talking shi*. BUT if he doesn’t bring both wars to an end within a reasonable amount of time, let’s say in his first year, I am fine at that point considering it a failed promise. What he means is I’ll negotiate a peace deal quickly. NOT, I’ll literally have this done in 24 hours, you can bank on it!

Some would say he needs to stop embellishing. I can’t entirely disagree. But it’s how he talks. That’s like expecting Obama to stop lecturing America. He just can’t help himself, it’s how he talks.

It's a valid thought.

As we track an update we can probably have something like achieved after timeline. I don't know for sure bc I am just brainstorming in the moment.

He is bombastic and full of embellishment and grandiose plans. I think we owe it to our effort of accuracy to hold him to his utterances while giving credit where due if accomplished in his term. I am not married to that so maybe we can reach a consensus on the board by talking through it.

This isn't my thread. I am facilitating. So I don't want what I share misconstrued as a judgement.

"should not pay" does not meet the standard of promise or proposal. it feels to me much closer to "ought to" or a suggestion, or "talking aloud".

If the board wants it on the list, I'll happily add it.

Maybe it’s an asterisk. Like he failed to achieve his 24 hour timeline. BUT later on the peace deals are made so there is an update.

I doubt many of us are gonna care all that much that he didn’t get it done day one. I think we would just be happy less people are dying. Well, maybe not Liz Chaney. But most of us.

That's fair.

Ending the conflict in 24 hours is on the list. So now we just need to update appropriately if/when results are seen.

To be accurate, this needs to be a community effort. If someone wanted to make this into a spreadsheet, I'm sure it would be a much better format.

For this, a proposal or promise would be anything offered in a definitive manner ( "I/ we will"..."going to"..."from day 1"...etc. NOT, "we should", "I think", "suggest"... "look into", etc) from Trump. (maybe need to include his cabinet, too?)

7. Elimate (or reduce???) tax on SS (@volinbham please let me know the most accurate way to classify that promise)

I always assume hyperbole with Trump. So I’m looking more for “did he deliver to some degree”.

If they drop 5-10%, I’d celebrate that. Or if he ends the Ukraine war in 6-12 months

~Finally, I will push a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on members of Congress.

we may be able to quantify the degree to which a promise was achieved if we have defined start and end points.

With respect to the tariffs you mentioned, I doubt that's actually what he said because that is not the way tariffs work. Tariffs would apply automatically to any company importing a tariffed product from a country that has had tariffs imposed on it.
