If "criminal records" was the context for the discussion around the 3,500 (not 500) then she's even more wrong lol, her deflection was intended to move AWAY from "criminal records" and instead say "well they're all criminals, with or without records" which is still wrong58 second mark of the video I linked. The question was asked and in her reply she clearly predicated the stance with people entering the country illegally. Do you have details showing the status of the 500 detainees indicating not all had criminal records? Because that was the context of that immediately following exchange.
Blunt repetition to counter the same tired argument. However...Yikes, no argument so just blunt repetition. The counter-argument was specifically about border crossings when the question was about ICE arrests, which (brace yourself) include expired visas
It's been the same argument literally the entire time, you just apparently can't follow it because you keep making up weird strawmen. The question was about ICE arrests and "they're all criminals" is just not true. And you introduce another strawman by editing my argument. I give you credit over Braxton Bragg: he was just dumb and lost an honest argument with himself. You're not going to get accused of having any integrity in your arguments.
The question you keep dancing around was specifically in question of the 500 ICE arrests. I asked for a link or data supporting that. You deflected to the general larger 3500 amount. Again it’s in the video I linked. You’re welcome. It's been the same argument literally the entire time, you just apparently can't follow it because you keep making up weird strawmen. The question about criminal records specifically referenced the 3,500 ICE arrests since Trump took office, do I need to directly quote it? If your "context" was not only a separate conversation but also discussing a separate group of people, that just makes it worse lolThe question you keep dancing around was specifically in question of the 500 ICE arrests. What I am trying to say is that she did not answer the question that was asked. You are correct about the question asked. She responded to that question, but she did not answer it.The people rounded up by ICE aren't "all criminals" either, even her deflection was still wrong. She didn't say "those who entered the country illegally" at all, the question was specifically about ICE arrests
No you don’t. You’ve already quoted enough material out of context. Thanks though. The question about criminal records specifically referenced the 3,500 ICE arrests since Trump took office, do I need to directly quote it? I haven't said anything counter to any of this, how is that a misrepresentation? Implying that every illegal immigrant is "a criminal" is the misrepresentation, people are just used to hearing itAs is typical amongst leftists, @NashVol11 is misrepresenting the facts. The Trump administration has said that ICE is going to enforce the nation's laws and is going to deport illegal immigrants. They have further stated that they would begin by focusing on violent criminal illegal immigrants. However, at no time have they said that they will not arrest and deport other illegal immigrants as they are encountered. If they are here illegally, they can expect to be deported.
With respect to immigrants with expired visas, are they in the US illegally? Yes. Can they expect to be deported? Yes. Do I feel sorry for them? No.
ok fine, you are just continuing the spin from someone else. I am glad that distinction is out of the way and we can have an actual discussion."How many have a criminal record versus those who are just in the country illegally" was the question, verbatim, and now that's "spin" lol
Saying everyone arrested by ICE is a "criminal" isn't true either, that was the entire pointok fine, you are just continuing the spin from someone else. I am glad that distinction is out of the way and we can have an actual discussion.
you don't need a criminal record to be a criminal. its in the phrase criminal "record". its a pointless distinction to make. according to the question it would be more important to get rid of the guy with a criminal record of felony trespassing who crossed illegally, before getting rid of the guy who stabbed someone but hasn't been convicted to have a record and "only" crossed the border illegally.
It is exactly arguing semantics. The press corps asked loaded question after loaded question just trying to get a sound bite. Leavitt set the stage early in the meeting where she was speaking from.Seems like arguing semantics to me. If the previous admin would have taken care of immigration when they controlled Congress and the Whitehouse this would not be happening.
