Did you just throw a fit based on the fact that Trump “ allegedly “ doesn’t listen to briefings? Name the last president that got North Korea to stop threatening the US and it’s allies ... without paying them buttloads of cash and calling it a “ good deal for the American people “ .
If my “fit” were over those allegations, they’re somewhat well supported. Earlier this week, Trump lashed out at Emmanuel Macron on Twitter, mentioning a statement he attributed to Macron in his request for a European army. The statement in question, that the army was needed to protect Europe from the United States, was not made by Mr. Macron but was reported erroneously by news media using it as a dig at Trump. While I thought it was a bit unfair that Trump got trashed by the same statement in both ends of the news cycle, if he had been properly informed by daily intelligence briefings, rather than by watching television, wouldn’t he have known this?
Not to mention Trump’s statements like: “The missiles have stopped. The rockets have stopped. The hostages are home.” (From Wednesday Nov. 7, 2018). Meanwhile, a private organization, The Center for Strategic and International Studies, finds evidence that NK is maximizing their capabilities. South Korea and U.S. DOD agree that that’s what’s happening and basically say “oh yeah, we knew about that, from Satellites. But it’s not news to anybody; the North has never agreed to do anything about their missiles.” So, again, Trump exhibits that he is as uninformed as you or I, and has relaxed sanctions on North Korea, apparently based on his gut feeling that NK is dismantling their nuclear missile production.
But no, my “fit” is not about the allegations that he has no idea what’s going on in the world. It’s about his demonstrable foreign policy incompetence. His inability to maintain centuries-old relationships with the United Kingdom and France. Tensions with our newer allies like Germany, NATO, and the United Nations. Bombastic rhetoric directed at our North American neighbors, which accomplished next to nothing in trade talks after he withdrew from the former trade ageeement. It’s also noteworthy that he’s increased tensions with China, one of the few countries that has the economic leverage to get NK to pipe down, by instituting tariffs which have done jack **** to help Americans.
I’m sure the list is not exhaustive at this point but I feel compelled to mention his berratement and attempts at humiliation of the leaders of those countries and organizations, because they are often on public display, and I’m assuming you’re one of those that only believes things that come from the mouth of the president with the largest inauguration crowds ever.
But, I guess that’s all fine because all of his attempts to subvert the rule of law are owning the libs, and the economic numbers have continued on almost the same upward trajectory that Obama managed to squeak out despite typical liberal economic ineptitude.
That would be the likely way forward but we're in the middle in a pretty big trade dispute with them at the moment. That's probably why Kim feels emboldened now.
The simple fact that you would think any president ignores security briefings is just dumb and a very well publicized idea the left likes to push in their media cycles all with all the other garbage to make him look incompetent . I wonder why ? I bet we see that word come up a lot more in the very near future . North Korea has to be one of the most watched countries on the planet from both our secret squirrel agencies and our allies , you really think he just sits in the White House all day and hopes Fox will tell him if they pick up on something coming out the area ? If you want to worry about something why not pick something like China’s expansionism they are going about relatively without mention by taking over the control of the China sea . This should worry the hell out anybody but nah it’s China so we will look the other way while they build a huge iron gate to control the flow of shipping lanes to the entire area .
My thoughts about the briefings contained appropriate qualifiers and seemed clear to me, so I assume that by continuing to make that the issue before pivoting to a different colossal foreign policy failure, you’ve conceded that there is no real rebuttal to show Trump’s competence in the face of his growing list of foreign policy blunders.
The liberal media derangement syndrome on this board is real. The original source material (the words and actions of Trump and other world leaders) are all that any free-thinking person needs to evaluate his competence. Trumpists here fall back to blaming the media in nearly every thread. It’s sad.
So you want me to show more evidence to debate some tangential argument that you latched onto, probably because it was more favorable to you than the opinion I was actually stating, and I’m supposed to do this in spite of the fact that you’ve already refused to substantively respond to my last post which already offered the facts that you’re demanding? You haven’t provided any proof of anything , only fret and worry of possible failure due to him allegedly ignoring his security briefings based on hearsay from let me guess ... senior unknown sources . Show me facts , not well maybe , possibly , I think because ...Muuh Trump . You can free think all you want to but at least do it with facts .
You didn’t provide facts . Look lets do this the easy way . You said Trump “ allegedly “ ignores his security briefings . Prove it . The rest of your argument is based off that .So you want me to show more evidence to debate some tangential argument that you latched onto, probably because it was more favorable to you than the opinion I was actually stating, and I’m supposed to do this in spite of the fact that you’ve already refused to substantively respond to my last post which already offered the facts that you’re demanding?
No.
How about you do it the easy way and go back and read it.You didn’t provide facts . Look lets do this the easy way . You said Trump “ allegedly “ ignores his security briefings . Prove it . The rest of your argument is based off that .
How about you do it the easy way and go back and read it.
Also, I don’t have to prove something that I qualified as “alleged” because by using the work “alleged” I acknowledged that it has not been proven.
Also, that was never my argument. It’s a small piece of my argument that you decided to run with and are still running with because you couldn’t respond i my actual argument.
Also, I provided evidence at least sufficient to show that the idea that he doesn’t get briefings is supported by more than muuh lib’rul media: all the really stupid **** he says and does and the fact that his foreign policy is roundly criticized as a total **** show.
How about you prove he’s just a total moron and then I’ll say “yeah, ya know he’s probably not skipping those briefings he’s just too stupid to understand them.”
I’m quite certain that if that detail had been in any way foundational, I would not have used the word “alleged” but please, tell me more about what I intended since you’re clearly never going to address my actual argument. You whole point was his foreign policy failure of North Korea and how he “ allegedly ignores his briefings “ on them . Nothing past that means anything if you are worried about him “ allegedly “ doing or not doing . It’s not fact based . The devil is in the details my man , you should know that .
I really don't have a good read on which way the U.S./China relationship is headed in the near-term. And it's an important question.
Not in post #41. What might China do in 2021 that it isn't doing now? Buy U.S. soybeans?
Cooperation, remove the tariffs they have on our goods and maybe (its a long shot) curb the theft of our tech. But right now there is no reason for them to even negotiate with what you and yours are doing to this country.
China, like other nations, installed retaliatory tariffs because the White House economic brain trust decided it would be a good idea for Americans to pay more for imported goods. It doesn't have anything to do with me.
