I'll say the same thing to you I said to my boss yesterday. While this protest had violent elements to it, by and large, it was mostly peaceful with some acting up. You had 200K people out there. You don't think you're going to get a few bad apples in that bunch? Regardless, if 200,000 people got it in their mind to destroy and loot, we'd be seeing far more damage done.

And you're a fool if you think Congress is our "chain of command." Sorry for the late civics lessons in life, but they work for us, not the other way around. It's thinking like yours that leads to them allowing themselves far more power than they should have.

Agreed. Anybody protesting for either cause is good in my book. Anybody rioting/looting/burning/ransacking on either side is despicable.

Sadly, each group of protestors gets lumped into the rioters on both sides of the aisle by media. The typical conservative - liberal stances (and even moderates in most cases) get pit against each other as standing for one act of violence or the other. It’s sad, and gets crazy real fast if people don’t take a step back to reassess.

Kind of like the narrative that all BLM protests were violent mobs only intent on destruction and violence? How much political mileage has Trump and his supporters gotten out of that narrative?

Over the last couple of days, I’ve seen people on this forum that spent all summer ripping BLM and the protests associated with racial violence as nothing more than lawless individuals who are intent on destroying our country and looting and burning etc etc.

Those very same people are now making the same points for these riots that the liberal leaning people on here were making for the riots over the summer. Both sides cherry pick their grievances.

I’m all for protesting. I did not care that Trump had his little rally yesterday. He was welcome to have the worlds largest tantrum as far as I was concerned. But when people start getting violent and threatening the lives of innocent people, that’s when it crosses the line for me, regardless of what your political affiliation is. That happened yesterday and it was unacceptable to me as burning and looting was then.

The thought of being on that battlefield where 160,000 soldiers walked before is an awesome experience. Seeing the location and terrain of Little Round Top, Seminary Ridge, Cemetery Ridge, Culp's Hill, the Peach Orchard, etc. was incredible.

With the rise of FPS and LARP games, I think such things are going downhill or being put to the backburner for the most part. Many/most of your radical gun control ideas and supporters come from an older generation of 50+ politicians that have had that as their third rail of political stances. Even radicals like AOC really haven't made it an up front issue, though go with the party line of UBC and "common sense" rhetoric.

Gun control really is kind of dying out in mainstream politics. Not to say they won't give it a go in the next year or two, but it's not an urgent issue for them.
