Thousands of National Guardsmen were forced to vacate congressional grounds on Thursday and are now taking their rest breaks outside and in nearby parking garages, after two weeks of sleepless nights protecting the nation’s capital in the wake of the violent Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol.

One unit, which had been resting in the Dirksen Senate Office building, was abruptly told to vacate the facility on Thursday, according to one Guardsman. The group was forced to rest in a nearby parking garage without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops, the person said.

“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed,” the Guardsman said.

All National Guard troops were told to vacate the Capitol and nearby congressional buildings on Thursday, and to set up mobile command centers outside or in nearby hotels, another Guardsman confirmed. They were told to take their rest breaks during their 12-hour shifts outside and in parking garages, the person said.

2. Assault rifles = are these assault weapons that are included in the original 15 firearms, or are assault weapons and firearms two different things?
3. A sniper rifle = is this sniper rifle included in the 15 firearms listed above or is a sniper rifle different from a firearm, also?
4. Other rifles = are these other rifles included in the 15 firearms? And these other rifles must not have been assault rifles or sniper rifles... so what kind of rifles were they?
5. Shotguns = so are the shotguns part of the 15 firearms or are shotguns not classified as firearms?
6. Pistols = are those firearms?
7. Or, should the article had read like this, "!5 firearms were found which included several rifles, shotguns, pistols, and various accessories and ammo"?

The way it is written right now, the average reader would think this guy had over 30 guns. 15 firearms, along with several rifles, plus a rifle with a tripod, plus shotguns, plus pistols plus ammo...

My main point is that he has been painted as wanting to take over the Capitol and take hostages but he left all these "weapons of war" at home? Why didn't he take these to DC? Wouldn't that have made more sense? And if the answer is "these people are idiots" then why did we need 20k NG troops and razorwire to thwart a bunch of apparently incompetent people?
