Mick you really want to die on this hill ? If you don’t have a heart beat ( on your own without help ) if you don’t have any brain activity. The rest is just a legality for filling out forms to keep from being sued . We can throw in not breathing on your own , no response to pain stimulation.. etc etc . You don’t look at a dead squirrel and say .. you know if I could hook him up to a machine and make him breath again , stimulate his heart at the optimal beats per min , he’ll be alive .

There is a difference between a fetus which requires a host to be alive and a person outside the womb which does not.
