Here we go... watch the FDA issue an EUA in October, so Trump can claim "victory" over Covid.

I wonder if the FDA plans on requiring users to sign a liability waiver when taking it.

Anyone here still plan on getting this "project warp speed" vaccine? Insanity.

FDA leader says agency could consider authorization for Covid-19 vaccine before Phase 3 trials are complete, Financial Times reports

In an interview with the Financial Times, US Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn said the agency could consider emergency use authorization or approval for a Covid-19 vaccine before Phase 3 trials are complete.

"It is up to the sponsor [vaccine developer] to apply for authorisation or approval, and we make an adjudication of their application," Hahn told the Financial Times. "If they do that before the end of Phase Three, we may find that appropriate. We may find that inappropriate, we will make a determination."

Hahn noted that an EUA is not the same as FDA approval.

"Our emergency use authorisation is not the same as a full approval," he said. "The legal, medical and scientific standard for that is that the benefit outweighs the risk in a public health emergency."

If there were any question whether Trump plans to ramrod the EUA through the FDA prior to the election, this removes any doubts whatsoever...

The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sent a letter to state governors last week telling them the Trump administration wants them to do everything they can to have vaccine distribution sites operational by Nov. 1, McClatchy reported Wednesday. The letter sent by Dr. Robert Redfield asks governors to fast-track permits and licenses for sites and warns them the usual time needed for such steps "presents a significant barrier to the success of this urgent public health program." It suggests that states could issue waivers on some requirements to speed up the process. Trump officials have said they would have a vaccine ready soon, even though trials are ongoing and are not expected to be completed any time soon.

Preparing to distribute is not the same as what you are implying. Didn’t you bang on Trump for not sourcing enough PPE? How bad would you bang on him if Fauci said “Hoorah we found a vaccine” and then we couldn’t produce and distribute it quickly?

All I'm saying is if an EUA is granted for a vaccine literally days before the election, there's no way on god's green Earth that I would EVER take it.

Motivation matters here. Getting it done by 11/1 tells you what you need to know -- it is being done expressly to help Trump win.

You know, we all hope it works and is safe. We really do. But to have it rushed like to to help him is just really terrible policy.

So you don’t trust Fauci? On top of that that’s not all your saying. You are implying a hell of a lot. But we both know you would be slamming Trump, if we did have a vaccine approved by Fauci and co, and were unable to quickly ramp up its production and distribution. Now you are slamming them for preparing the states for this. You need to remove your hatred from Trump in this equation because logically you are failing.

Better yet, think Trump will take the vaccine - you know, publicly and FIRST as any great leader is supposed to?

Get covid, don't die, build an immunity.

Haven't the CDC revised numbers have drastically shrunk the death rate for Covid? It seems to have mainly been deadly to residents of nursing homes in Democrat states.

I've seen several people in stores with no masks and people don't say a thing. I don't see how you can get too worked up when half the employees don't have their noses covered or are constantly touching them.

The CDC didn’t revise numbers. They simply stated that 94% of the people who have died had underlying conditions. That would include obesity. What percentage of our populace is obese? A lot. Furthermore, this disease is showing some concerning potentially long term impact on recovered patients health. The heart for example. If I have covid, recover but have heart issues down the road and have a heart attack, based on many peoples interpretation on here we would then have to count that as a covid death because it would be the underlying condition. No I don’t believe this to be a serious problem for young and healthy people. Most disease aren’t. But I will take the vaccine. And before someone screams don’t you worry about how much faster this vaccine was developed when compared to other vaccines, I will simply say do you understand how much better at medicine and technology we are now vs then.
