TrumpPutingate III: the beginning of the end

The stock market goes up, and the stock market goes down. Always has, and always will. I'm hoping that my being invested about half in bond funds keeps my losses below 5 figures today.

My prediction was that it would go down because I thought revelations that Trump tried to fire Mueller would set off alarms that the GOP Congress would not stand for that and threaten to undo the business-friendly administration they have now.

Not only was I wrong about any GOP Congressperson expressing serious concerns about those reports about trying to fire Mueller, on top of that, I was wrong when I thought that the GOP Congress that voted overwhelmingly for sanctions on Russia would be even just a tiny bit upset that Trump has now told them twice to go f themselves on the sanctions they ordered him to impose.

I was dead wrong on that, too.

I guess the GOP has hooked its long term political train, for better or for worse, to the Trump Express. We'll see how that works out for them later this year and in 2020.

Its a talking points memo that SPINS the intelligence to which they have been given access to put the worst possible face on the investigation as they can.

But, you allude in the bigger picture to what I was saying yesterday. When the memo is released, the right shall rejoice. Hannity et al will call for criminal investigations and indictments of FBI and DOJ leadership. Trump will be smug and take great delight. Huckabee-Sanders will soon be exhausted saying "I told you so" from the WH podium.

But the MSM and the 64 % will still be asking -- is this a fair accounting of what happened?

And the GOP seems not to have considered the consequences of what will happen. As you point out, the FBI and the DOJ will defend themselves. The real facts -- no spin either way -- will come out.

We just have to hope it comes out soon enough that Trump cannot rely on the SPIN version to duck having to talk to Mueller or the grand jury.

The FBI will defend itself... by canning the #2 that is implicated in the bruhaha?

That's absolutely right but as President, when you take sole credit for stock market gains, you must also own when it goes down.

LOL, he didn't take 'sole' credit...he does deserve credit for un-shackling the market w/ deregulation and tax reform, among a few other things.

The stock market is a forward-looking, or discounting, mechanism. Stock prices today are based on what investors think will happen 6 to 12 months from now.
Therefore, investors were optimistic about Trump's pro-growth agenda...so yeah, the markets have to pull back, and that can't 'solely' be blamed on an President.

That's a joke. He certainly has... and among other things, he claims that BECAUSE of his policies black unemployment is low.

Ah, I see that you've been studying the script from Fox News.

Wray saw the memo over the weekend. McCabe left Monday.

You ignore that Wray wanted to have the memo looked at by the people at the FBI who actually worked on this and wanted to address the committee before it releases the memo, and that Nunes rejected both requests.

Nonetheless, you assume Wray told McCabe to leave due to what is in the memo. The memo he wanted to check in to before its release.

Classic Fox reasoning. Truly emblematic of their unjustified leap of horrible logic approach to just about anything.

Dems standing in the pouring rain again telling the public its not really raining. Don't fall for those Republican tricks like public optimism, full employment and higher wages. Hey, don't forget we raised your taxes and the minimum wage!

That's a joke. He certainly has... and among other things, he claims that BECAUSE of his policies black unemployment is low.

Where did he say on record that he takes 'sole' responsibility for the unprecedented bull run?

The claim
Black and Hispanic unemployment are at or near record lows.

The short answer
Trump's numbers are right, but it's generally a stretch for presidents to take credit for job creation.

History repeats itself?

April 27, 1973: L. Patrick Gray - Director of the FBI - resigns after it comes to light that he destroyed files from E. Howard Hunt's safe

August 8, 1974: Nixon delivers his resignation speech in front of a nationally televised audience.

System still worked and the crook was impeached.

Back to the future we go, McFly!

McCabe Resigns After FBI Director Wray Reviews House FISA Abuse Memo | Sara A. Carter

McCabe Resigns After FBI Director Wray Reviews House FISA Abuse Memo
Andrew McCabe
Andrew McCabe

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was forced to resign Monday, just as the House Intelligence Committee is expected to vote on the public release of a classified memo this afternoon revealing extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse under the Obama administration, sources told this reporter.

McCabe apparently lashed out to his colleagues when he was told he would be asked to resign, according to sources. FBI Director Christopher Wray viewed the four-page memo on Sunday, sources familiar with the discussions said.

McCabe, who is facing three federal inquiries for conflicts-of-interest during his time at the FBI, is one of the numerous names mentioned in the classified memo detailing FISA abuse, according to sources who reviewed the memo.

The federal inquiries into allegations against McCabe, who was expected to resign in March, are based on documents and interviews conducted by this reporter over the past year and range from sexual discrimination to improper political activity.

McCabe, a central figure in the ongoing Russia investigation against Trump, is also part of the Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s ongoing review into the FBI’s handling of former Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server to send classified information.

Current and former FBI officials said McCabe’s resignation is the beginning of more resignations to come.

“There are people lining up in the bureau to go after McCabe,” said a former FBI official, with knowledge. “There will be a clean up at the Bureau of his cronies.”

Since taking office I have been very strict on Commercial Aviation. Good news - it was reported that there were Zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record!

He is egocentric to the extent of not even needing a hand in something to take credit for it. The above tweet would look like a joke coming from anyone else but from Trump? He was dead serious. And he certainly has implied that he deserves full credit for gains in the stock market. Yes, he really is that narcissistic.
