Trump's new Cabinet - Guesses & Nominations

Aside from this condition that he can’t do anything about, RFK is an absolute crackpot who doesn’t know the difference between Medicare and Medicaid and is a rabid anti-vaxer who is going to cost lives. I have to believe that Trump did this as payback for dropping out of the race and is praying (assuming he knows how, big assumption) that he gets rejected. Then he can claim he did all that he could. What a farce. As I said a while ago, I’m just going to sit back and watch the comedy unfold and laugh. It should be entertaining and they are getting started early.

Late addition: Trump just made a fool out of himself going off script and political in the speech about the plane crash. Just couldn’t stay on topic. A walking nightmare and that hasn’t changed. Just can’t shut that mouth when he needs to. He is spouting off about stuff that he has no business speculating on.
He can be a bit out there on some subjects but his end goal is to see a healthier country, especially for our kids. We haven't had that in govt in a long time as they're simply bought off to keep the pharma dollars rolling in.

Did you listen to his health statistics and see any problems with the direction the US is headed? Who else has advocated for changing that trajectory?

I commend you for taking on this discussion. I’ve learned a few things being married to a physician. One of those is that the majority of the American public refuses to accept that we our killing ourselves with our daily health related decisions. If a politician were to stand on a debate stage and say “America, we are fat! It’s our fault and we need to be honest with ourselves. We can’t keep doing this” it would be the most ridiculed and unpopular statement any politician has ever made. And they would get thumped in whatever race they were participating in. We just don’t want to hear it. Everything is fine!!

I have 13 and 11yo boys so I see and fight this on a daily basis. We keep them off the common drugs with exercise and activities. Sure they play video games but they earn it through hours of hard work. When they take too much time off you can see the changes and it's not fun. We do boy scouts, bjj, track/cc, swimming, flag football, basketball, etc and still eat at home almost every night. You know how many fat kids are winning races in swimming? I go to pick up my oldest at high school and there are more fat kids in his class than I ever saw in my whole HS. My son almost looks out of place (he's in incredible shape and the only 7th grader in his class to already earn a HS varsity letter)

I've looked into RFK Jr a lot and don't agree with everything he says. However I do agree that this country had been captured by Big <insert industry> and that created a massive health crisis that is completely unsustainable. You're right, many need to hear the harsh truth about their health. Feelings simply don't trump biology and science. I'm ok with the pendulum swinging widely the other for a moment

Do you give no concessions to people being tricked into making poor food and health choices by dishonest marketing and false information?

100 years ago, tobacco use was considered to be no problem to one’s health. Tobacco companies made bank by keeping that narrative going and they bought much political influence to keep it alive. We’ve come to understand the dangers of smoking such that today no one smoking can blame anyone but themselves for their associated health problems.

Would welcome more accountability for companies that bring known unhealthy foods to the market. Also would welcome ending all pharmaceutical advertising and higher accountability for failed drug / vaccine products.

Seems like RFK Jr is wanting similar

I don't think any can argue they were fooled by McDonalds, Doritos, or Coke.

although I could see how all of the "diet" stuff is misleading.

Education of food choices is a more recent trend and everyone in the general public aren’t all informed at the same rate. A lot of folks are financially challenged to buy pricier “healthy” options. Require these companies to put a warning label on these unhealthy foods just like with cigarettes. “Drinking this coke product contributes nothing nutritional to your diet and helps make you a fat arse” would be a good start IMO

The diet stuff is misleading because the people purchasing the products believe it is a better option without doing research of the contents. The human body was meant to digest fats, sugars, proteins etc. and not nasty crap like aspartame found in many "diet" drinks.

And why is there this new pandemic of gluten intolerance yet many those same folks can eat European wheat without issues? Everyone doesn’t have the ability to become an expert on nutrition. Why wouldn’t our government require companies to only sell products that aren’t “bad” for us?

If this isn't AI... which I don't think it is... this was epic.

And on that note, you can tell it got personal when RFK Jr went to "Bernie" with a tone after getting called Bob by Sanders.

If anyone in the DNC (or "independent" as Bernie claims to be) should be sympathetic and supportive of RFK Jr, it should be him. They both got screwed by the DNC establishment during their Presidential races and should have an axe to grind.

Every WW2 vet I knew growing up smoked... fortunately my sister asked my dad to quit when he asked her what she wanted for her 16th birthday present and he did.

everything I see comes with a calorie amount. even when you order fast food they show the number of calories. pretty sure everyone knows the 2000 calorie "average"

and fast food isn't cheaper than healthy foods. especially now. but even when I was below poverty line I figured out that I could eat cheaper and healthier than fast food pretty darn quick.

I mean unfortunately you are right, we probably do need that type of blatant warning on there.

yeah I tell people any time it comes up.

Diet drinks MAY be healthier in one category, but its a lot worse for you than even the normal stuff in a lot of other categories.

I do my best to make sure IF I am drinking a soda or something out of a bottle it contains cane sugar and not something else. #MexicanCola

the same things goes with our beers. German purity law beers are better for you than any light piss water an American company will sell you even if it has more calories.

I salute you for educating yourself on these issues but I think you’re not in the majority. JMO

Fear of healthy fats and going all in on sugar and carbs has been a health disaster.
yeah. its funny seeing how a lot of the progressive changes that came out of the 90s/2000s came back to bite us in the butt.

I remember when plastic bags and packaging were a rarity. but we had to save the planet by not cutting down trees, so we get petroleum products everywhere now instead.

another misleading thing is the Food Pyramid. it should be veggies at the bottom, lean proteins, fruits, other proteins, carbs as dessert.

my fiance' and I have been trying to find as many replacements for carbs as we can. trying out a lot of different "hidden veggie" options.

I know I am not in the majority.

stepping on a scale a seeing 350 pop up scared me straight so to speak. still struggling getting down to a healthy weight, and been focusing on eating healthier and not just calorie counting like I was.

I believe gluten intolerance has always existed but people just had to live with it until Doctors identified the culprit (gluten) and how to treat it or give dietary advice. The history of celiac issues dates back hundreds of years. Pretty certain people in Europe deal with this as well and all over the globe. I have worked in a clinical lab years. The most common test is a celiac disease panel tested on serum aka celiac antibodies.
