TrumPutinGate

You've been there since Saturday because of this?

No not just because of this. This has been going on since about 8 o'clock tonight. Saturday and most of the day sunday WERE preparing for committee confirmations but all hell broke loose

Is it? I recall reading articles about it. They either did, or were seriously considering banning all electronics on trans-Atlantic flights to the US

The Washington Post is reporting that Trump revealed specifics about the threat from ISIS to the Russians including the city where an attack was to occur which could possibly lead to the identity of the source. So, McMaster was playing a word game earlier when he said the story was false. Wa Po didn't claim he had revealed the source or methods of intelligence collection but that he had revealed information that could lead to that.

It's shocking stupidity from Trump.

First of all, Trump has the power to disclose whatever he wants
Second of all, the Post didn't provide any evidence of anything. The only person mentioned in the report denied everything they reported.

So you have no idea what you're doing or why you're just sitting around

I'm waiting on a phone call to tell me to either go home or inflate my air mattress. Senior went home at 10, I'm the only one with clearance here and if more info comes in someone has to man the red line until the Senator comes back if they do.

Have you considered that the WaPo has it wrong too?

My bet is that the WaPo overstated what happened and used former intel people (read: former Obama staff) to fill in gaps with the worst possible scenario speculation.

IOW - it ain't just McMaster playing word games. I'm betting the story is exaggerated.

Sure... he can give classified info to the Russians. Is that a positive development for our country if he does? There will be political fallout from this, if proven true. The investigation into his collusion with Russia during the campaign has no chance of going away now.

So this is how it works? Media- that has proven to conspire with democrats - get to publish all the unsubstantiated claims they want - and it is justifications for more fruitless investigations

Soon. You've got him dead to rights now.

The investigation was never going away regardless of Trump's actions. It's the Dems most effective obstruction tool. They want the story alive as long as possible.

This incident has zero to do with the alleged collusion. He probably said too much but didn't go as far as speculated by the WaPo and their former intel sources.

That's exactly what Trump depends on. That his base of support will not trust the media.

I disagree. All roads lead to Russia with Trump. This is just one more example of his fixation with them.

The problem wasn't the subject he discussed with the Russians. Several sources are reporting that Trump leaked information that could lead the Russians to the source of our intel. That would be unforgivable. Our intelligence community goes to great efforts to protect our intel assets.

I'm not his base.

I'm just going on the push back from McMasters, a CNN article where it says "most" of what was in the WaPo article was right and the actual article that fills in most of the blanks by sourcing former intel officials.

He probably said too much but likely not as much or how it was characterized by the WaPo story.

Funny, I remember when Clinton's actions could lead to source uncovering people were saying "it's just some damn emails. what's the big deal?"

In a few days hopefully a clearer picture will emerge of what really happened here.

That's a bit much. Let me give my take:

I don't think he was "sharing" IJ intel. I think he was running his mouth trying to push how great our alliance was with the country that released this info, then the people in the room realized what the **** he had done and notified CENTCOM, NATO, NSA, and CIA about the "leak.". he's within his legal rights to say whatever he wants, but the IC of the nation this info came from, if this checks out, will stop sharing with us.
