TrumPutinGate

Gestapo tactics against someone who is not even accused of any wrong doing. And what is is Mr. Yohai's recourse in all of this? Suck it up and take the @ss pounding?

"Investigators approached Jeffrey Yohai, who has partnered in business deals with Manafort, earlier this summer, setting off “real waves” in Manafort’s orbit, one of these people said. Another of these people said investigators are trying to get “into Manafort’s head.”

The approach involves finding a suspected crime — false statements on tax returns or loan applications, for example — and then offering leniency on prosecution in exchange for cooperation. “They always start with the people on the low end of the ladder and try to get information on someone high up on the ladder,” said William Jeffress, a white-collar attorney who represented Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, in the President George W. Bush-era Valerie Plame leak investigation.

Feds sought cooperation from Manafort's son-in-law

I do have to keep a handkerchief nearby at all times.

Granted, my bar of what would constitute an impeachable offense is set much lower than yours. Primarily because I desperately want Trump out of office ASAP for the good of human existence. The thing is, as has been stated ad nauseum throughout this thread, the house and senate are controlled by republicans. If they conclude that whatever misdeeds are found rise to the level of impeachment, I'm confident it will be justified. (Much more so than Clinton's impeachment - speaking of ad nauseum)

My problem with the bolded is the notion we should use the justice system to remove political officials we don't like.

That is the slipperiest of slippery slopes and something the Founders were fighting against.

We've already criminalized politics - going further down that road where we use intelligence agencies to spy on our own politicians so we can oust them through the justice system puts us squarely in the banana republic zone.

No thanks.

I prefer to get rid of politicians the old fashioned way - at the ballot box.

I 99.8% agree with you.

But.....Trump is that exception, not a once in a lifetime exception but rather a once in every 300 years exception. There should be (and may be) a better alternative to removing a president proven to be grossly incompetent and unable to fulfill his duties.

You are advocating removal of a lawfully elected President based on your subjective opinion that he is incompetent. Correct me if I'm wrong but the left also saw GW as incompetent. I guess by your standards the Washington machine should've used whatever means necessary to remove him as President as well despite his election.

I'm sorry you don't understand what dangerous waters you are advocating here.

There are no exceptions to this rule. And if you cannot see the slippery slope this leads to, you are an idiot.

The country will persevere and your feelings won't be any more hurt after four to eight years of a President you don't like. Seriously, get over it.

That's idiotic. Nobody will be removed from office based on my opinion. It will be based on the opinions of the lawfully elected republicans in congress.

What rule are you talking about? You do believe in the constitutionality of impeachment, do you not?

I think the debate is over how much leniency is allowed in the investigation. I would only ask for half of the leniency that was afforded Starr.

In what world do you live in where this has actually happened?

Do you have a permanent feeding tube hooked up to the Occupy Democrats facebook page?

This is just further proof of the massive lingering hangover the left wingers have from their crushing loss and their inability to acknowledge defeat and move on. It will serve the rest of us well in the coming years.

None of that has been proven. You don't like him. I get it. Many don't. He's not good at Presidenting. However, he is fulfilling the duties. Nothing has fallen apart.

Do you just want him impeached, or do you want him removed from office?

What duties is he not fulfilling?

I am as far left as you are right. When I think that in many ways you are just the negative image of me, it sends shivers down my spine.

The evaluation of Trump by congress will be based on the findings of the investigations, the court of public opinion, and Trump himself.
