None of us knows the evidence he has at this point. It seems you presume he doesn't have much or any, and that he's just prolonging the investigation for the sake of hoping to actually unearth something... anything.

Given the high visibility here, why would he engage in a fishing expedition? I see no upshot in doing so.

It’s funny how much damage this is doing to the Democratic cause. Popularity polls have Trump way down but everyone I know that was anti trump have softened their stance. Some even say he’s doing a good job. I hope this thing continues till it’s conclusion. But when it finds nothing Trump will get a huge bounce. Even worse could be if the investigation turns on the Dems. Everyone seems to have forgotten that Podesta is being investigated too.

Muller's job was to investigate possible Russian interference in our election and collusion. This investigation has been going on for almost a (maybe over) a year now and so far he's charged people with completely unrelated crimes. Minor ones at that.

No, Muller isn't doing the job he was publicly tasked with. However he might be doing the job he was secretly tasked with.

Wrong and wrong. Been going on 7 months, and he was tasked to investigate any matters that arose during the investigation. Why can't we even agree on basic facts here?

On May 17, 2017, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller, a former Director of the FBI, to serve as special counsel for the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). In this capacity, Mueller oversees the investigation into "any links and/or coordination between Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump, and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation".

Another reason Dufus Trump shouldn't have fired Comey. Mueller had to assemble a team and start from scratch.
Just be patient this should end with some indictments probably around October or November.

I have no proof, just suspicion born from contempt of our political system. No charges Muller has brought to date have anything to do with his original mandate.

I'll give you that it's possible Mueller won't find any chargeable criminal acts in the collusion case. But if he does it won't be drip, drip, drip. It will be a Big Bang. And some of the people charged already may face additional indictment.

The article OBV posted about Manafort being charged with a tax issue is telling in my mind. It tells me that Muller isn't very confident in the case he has.

Of course he had to start from scratch. Any investigator is going to verify any information that was turned over to him from another party.
