I believe DOJ has a standing policy to not release information within 30 or 60 days of an election so as to not affect an outcome. Unless of course they must.Maybe its just that I don't completely understand this process, but why wait until after the midterms? Is this because he isn't to that point yet to release or is there a reason that it is earmarked to be released specifically after the midterms?
Mueller to present key findings related to Russia probe after midterms: report
Special Counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly expected to present findings related to key aspects of his investigation into Russian election interference after this November's midterm elections.
Bloomberg News, citing a pair of unnamed U.S. officials, reported on Wednesday that Mueller is close to finalizing his inquiry into a pair of the most important aspects of his investigation.
One of the officials told the news outlet that the findings that may be released soon are related to whether President Trump's 2016 campaign colluded with Russia and if Trump obstructed justice during the probe.
Rosenstein has reportedly made it clear to Mueller that he wants the probe to end as soon as possible.
Obviously, two things happened on August 21, 2018 with Manafort and Cohen. Let's consider their import and the change in the dynamic they caused.
First, Manafort. None of the convictions has anything to do with Trump. But his sentencing, plus a second trial a few weeks from now, creates enormous pressure on Manafort to flip on Trump. He might not. But if he has the golden ticket, now is the time to redeem it.
Second, Cohen. Today, Cohen stated that Donald Trump directed him to commit a crime. That crime is not about Russia. It's serious, and was done twice. But it's not about Russia.
However, Cohen's lawyer tonight suggested that he might have information that Trump knew in advance that the Russian computer hack was going to happen. THAT, without question, would be collusion and likely criminal conspiracy.
We'll see what happens. But things changed today. It's going to move quickly now. We are in a new phase.
BREAKING: Treasury Department Employee Arrested For Leaking Bank Records Of Paul Manafort, Others
A Treasury Department employee has been arrested for leaking thousands of bank records related to President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort, his business partner Rick Gates, the Russian Embassy, and accused Russian agent Maria Butina.
Bloomberg reports that Natalie Mayflower Sours Edwards, senior adviser at Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), has been accused of leaking Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to an unidentified reporter at Buzzfeed. The information had been written up by the media outlet as recently as Monday, October 15.
“Edwards began communicating with the unidentified reporter in July 2017, according to prosecutors,” Bloomberg reported. “Between October 2017 and January 2018, she saved thousands of FinCen files, including all the SARs cited in the case.”
Edwards and a “co-conspirator” who is not named in the complaint “exchanged approximately 301 messages with Report-1.”
Edwards was arrested Tuesday carrying a flash drive containing the SARs and a phone she used to send the information to the reporter. On Wednesday, she confessed to leaking the reports but “falsely denied” knowing the SARs would be published, the complaint says.
