Why did the FBI trick him into talking without an attorney or tell him the consequences of their interview? They want to entrap whoever they can and rules and laws be damned.
The FBI didn’t trick him. He lied to them and then they used NSA signals intelligence intercepts from Kislyak conversations against him.

And then to be sure to register the events for posterity they could say... write personal memos so as to retain the knowledge too!It's hard to imagine a national security advisor, someone trained in the area and aware of the efforts of the Russians generally to turn anyone they talk to would not remember his conversations vividly.
As in, impossible to believe he forgot what was said.
