Truth about Coach Jay Graham leaving?

God bless Jay. Loved him as a player. Really liked him as a coach. Brought in some non-rb stud recruits. Hurd said he had no relationship with Dooleys staff.... that's both Dooley and Jay- not good. Signed Our best 2 rb recruits in years pretty much as soon as JG left. Coincidence? Don't know, suspect not. Wish him well.

Um, no. The head coach and the recruiting coordinator designate targets. Jay was neither when he was here, so not recruiting him doesn't fall on Jay.

Jay was lead recruiter for both Four-Star wrs we brought in this past class. Sounds like good recruiting to me.

You know who else is gone that may have effected recruiting this year, that's right, Dooley. Last year, Green specifically said that JG was who kept UT in the race. Green wasn't a TN kid like Hurd, so I'd say Jay was recruiting his ass off to keep his interest given the state of the program.

People need to stop with the Jay Graham hate. Whatever his reasons for leaving, he's more Vol than the majority of this messageboard. There may be a few posters who suited up and gave there all for Tennessee on here, but not many. Jay earned his stripes on the field. He invested more into this program than any fan.

What in the hell is the matter with you, there is no more of an established program than the University of Tennessee. Sneaker U doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as U. T. The point isn't even arguable. :nono: :rtfm:

Oh wow, are you just coming out of a coma? Dude, I have some bad news for you about these past ten years. UT hasn't been an established program for several years now. We've become kind of the joke of the SEC. Not only have we lost to Vandy, we lost to freakin' Kentucky. Might want to fall back into that coma. Someone will wake you up when the nightmare's finally over. We're hoping it's this year, but it's still wait and see at the moment. One last thing before you drift back off. Good news/bad news. The good news, we elected our first black president. The bad news, he's not a very good president. World changes a lot when you're out of it so long. At least Halle Berry and Heidi Klum are still hot.

At what point did I say I hated JG? To the contrary, started post by saying I loved the guy. Which was sincere. Great Vol.

Next, hell yeah the recruiting failures fall on Dooley, but do you know for a fact that JG wasn't assigned to recruit Hurd? If you do I stand corrected. But I find it difficult to believe our RB coach had no role in recruiting the top rb/player in the state and one of the top rbs in the country.... makes no sense but then again we are talking about Dooley so you may be right.

Also did you not read the the part of my post where I wrote he brought in some stud non-rb recruits? Just answered another guy wanting to know who I was referring to (North, Harris, Ferguson by the way).

Maybe you only read the last sentence and took offense to that. But I stand by it. No stud rbs signed in 2 recruiting cycles with Jay, he leaves and we get 2 within 2 weeks of him leaving--- most of that was surely the HC but until somebody proves otherwise I gotta think there's a link to JG too.

Huh? Feel free to define an "established program". If you meant we're currently not one of the national powerhouse programs due to the last 8-10 year performance ok, got it.

But if you actually meant what you wrote, that makes no sense. UT is the winningest college football program in the country since before the Great Depression. Despite a crappy last 7 or 8 years, I'd call that established. Actually, Traditional College football powerhouse has a better ring to it.

Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan and USC, all just behind UT on that list have each had 5-10 year down periods like us... Ask them if they're "established".

I am extremely confused.

Geez Oregon. We "got verbal commitments" from Hurd and Paulk. Better?

Are you also saying we didn't "sign" North, Ferguson and Harris? Or that JG wasnt instrumental in their recruitments?

Help a brother out. Please enlighten.

By the way, after reading most of your posts I agree... You are extremely confused. No offense.

It looks to me that Butch pushes his assistant coaches as hard as his players. Maybe Jay didnt like that. Idk

As long as Butch works as hard as he makes his assistants work, it should be fine. I'd be happy in that position.

I read it like Zook played for UT along with the other coaches named. I thought it was a bigger deal that he left and he played here. Not so much now.

The 5 * rb hurd said that Graham told him about the Tennessee Traditions and History so i think graham deserves some credit however small it may be for getting hurd here.
