Truth about Coach Jay Graham leaving?

can I say I told you so?

Not really, you said he would making less than he did here.

But, he did bolt for a $15k raise instead of staying for an extra $40k.

Obviously something didn't mesh during the transition to our new staff.

I really don't understand why he would leave for less money than we offered ? That just sounds dumb!!! It's all about the Benjamin's because head coaches aren't gonna say his resume is better because he coached at fsu over UT ???? And butch sounds a lot cooler to work for than Dooley.... Just crazy

He must have thought the offense was going to be really bad this year. And that the offense goes against traditional Tennessee football standards. He's old school offense. Jones is new school.

They told him he could ride the horse around and chunk the Spear & UT has opted out of letting the Walking Horse run the field.

??? Maybe he likes the Horse theme............

WE countered every penny he was going to get elsewhere..

He left us for a simple title that in the end means nothing.. recruiting co-ordinator. He wants to advance..sooner rather then later. He will spend a year at FSU and probably take a offensive co-ord position next year at whichever school will give it to him.

He wants a Head Coach position within the next 5-6 years

Geez Oregon. We "got verbal commitments" from Hurd and Paulk. Better?

Are you also saying we didn't "sign" North, Ferguson and Harris? Or that JG wasnt instrumental in their recruitments?

Help a brother out. Please enlighten.

By the way, after reading most of your posts I agree... You are extremely confused. No offense.

Not so fast my friend...first off don't count ur chickens before they're hatched...signing and committed (almost a year prior to signing day) are 2 COMPLETLY different things. Once we get closer to signing day we will know better.

Side note: Does anyone have a clue of why CJG left???? Seriously...

Maybe he just didn't have any chemistry with anyone and it wasn't enjoyable. It happens.

Not to throw gas on the fire, but Jay Graham is not the recruiting coordinator for FSU. Tim Brewster, the TE coach, is.

Funny thing is that FSU doesn't have an OC this season. Jimbo has always been the real OC, and this season after Coley left for Miami (of Florida), Jimbo decided to save some money and just not name an OC.

Boo hoo, cry me a damn river...he left his school, the place that made him what he is today and for less money. Then he makes some derogatory remark about bald white guys, racist, then those bald white guys go out and get the number 2 RB in the nation...guess ole Jay didn't see that one coming. If a guy don't want to be here fine, but don't go trashing people you barley know because of their hairline of skin color, thought we were past that in this country...oh wait you just can't say anything bad about a person of color....

That's odd, pretty sure Jimbo is a bald white dude.

Thanks Tips.... none of us knew verbally committing and actually signing your loi on NSD were 2 different things. What would we do without you setting us straight?

So.... it's not accurate to say we currently have 6 verbal commitments for the 2014 University of Tennessee recruiting class? Come on Vince.

I know that Zas just posted about it, but I want to know what you all think. Did he get a better offer financially? Or was he just really head over heels with the opportunity to work with the gem known as Randy Sanders? OR, could it have been that he was the only coach held over to help keep the recruiting class intact? That seems logical at this point. He was held over, but knowing he probably wouldn't stay here.. he just loves this university and wanted to help secure a good class for us.

I love CJG as much as the rest of you all do, and wanted him to stay of course. He and CRG's coaching paths look very similar, but Graham gets more credit because he had Marcus Lattimore. Latt was going to be special regardless. Obviously CJG helped a lot, but if CRG had the chance to work with that caliber of a back I'm sure we'd be saying the same stuff about him.

What do you all think?

Forget him...we have a new coach! Let's support the new coach!

I love speculating as much as the next guy, but who gives a **** at this point. Lets look at the facts: He's gone. Not coming back anytime soon.

:horse:

Think of the horses people!

Apparently he didn't want to be here so be it. We'll do fine without him.

Jay Graham explains why he left Tennessee for Florida State

Graham said, "The biggest thing, every time the conversation comes up about the best programs in the country, Florida State is always in that conversation. It's a great university with a great football tradition. The opportunity came along and it was a special opportunity."

This seems like a backhand or am I reading too much into it?

odd man out IMO

Jay went to work with someone he knows & trusts...Sanders was his position coach at UT.

FSU is good right now, so not the tough sell in recruiting that many have portrayed Tennessee to be.

Maybe his wife wanted to move...who knows.

CRG is a proven coach; best of luck to Jay.
