Tuberville Out at AU

I see them hiring muschamp at auburn. No way he would wait however long for mack to retire to take over as a HC if auburn came knocking. Especially with his ties to the SEC...

As someone mentioned already, I could see Miss St offering him the HC job. I don't feel too bad for him. In the past, he's fired his assistant coaches like crazy.

Anyone mention Auburn inquiring about Patrino @ Arky? Patrino was an asst at Auburn....he tried to get hired at Auburn behind TT's back in that infamous midnight plane meeting.....while still at the Falcons, he even had his agent inquire about the Auburn job last year when it appeared that TT might be going to Arky to replace Nutt. For whatever reason, Patrino sports serious wood for Auburn. I'm sure that there would be an expensive buyout which would probably prevent such a senerio however, if it were to happen, I would laugh my butt off to see these hillbillies around arkansas crying in their moonshine. Most of the state would go on suicide watch.

They should have just proposed the first Trade in College FOotball.

Arkansas provides: Bobby Petrino, and a recruit to be named later.
Auburn provides: Tommy Tuberville, actual good looking cheerleaders, and "The War Eagle" (So Arkansas can finally stop the Pig Suie Cheer, and find another ridiculous "Tradition").

My best friend is a lifelong AU fan and season ticket holder..... He emailed me today and said this exact same rumor is floating around AU circles!! He said that he heard AU and ARKY were cooperating for a potential "trade".....Tubbs for Petrino!!!

LMAO!!!! :post-4-1090547912:

Not suprised to hear he is gone. Too many coaches during his time there. Borges is still in Auburn picking up his check every month...TT let him go. Muscamp is super and loved by the Auburn people. I bet they really go after him......My Ole Miss buddies said when he came that he would not last long....I hear a pretty bad temper.

I think Patrino and Nick Satan are cut from the same cloth...looking for that next big job/check. I just hear on Arky sports talk radio that there is a clause in Patrino's contract that he cannot leave the piggies for another job in the sec west. Darn! I bet if that clause were not in the contract, Patrino would be in Auburn at this very moment humping the leg of the Auburn president or AD.

Al Delgreco was on the Zone in Nashville this afternoon discussing this. He said he didn't see Tubberville being interested in the Miss. St. job.

Would TT lose his 6 mill buyout if he took another job? Besides.....Mississippi State? Anyone would be better served to jump in front of a fast moving train than take that job.

The way AL and George was talking about it, I don't think he would lose it. Al said negotiating the buy out was the main reason it took so long today.

How old is Tubberville? Really, if you're pretty confident of getting another /decent/ coaching job, and you're not terribly happy where you are (and I assume that Tubs had some problems with the administration and/or Lowder, taking a $6 million buyout and some time off is a pretty sweet deal. You tell Lowder to get f---, take the money and a long (nice) vacation to recharge, then you get a new job that gets you excited about coaching again.

Delgreco said Tubberville really loved Auburn and wanted to stay with the university in some capacity, but nothing had been arranged for that. He also said he didn't think it would be a good idea for Auburn since it didn't work out too well with Dye. Both George and AL thought he could do very well on ESPN or something similar if he did not want to coach somewhere else.

interesting. guess they were feeling left out at the dance. hope they get Leach...... I remember when Mumme Ball hit the SEC. It didnt take long to figure it out. I think Mumme/Leach era is absorbed somewhere in the current Streak we have against KY.

I always thought TT should have told Auburn to kiss his @33 when the AD flew to Louisville to get Petrino. Such is life. I think B. Kelly is a solid hire but he is prob gonna wait until after next year when ND comes open.

Speaking of Mumme, he got the axe recently too.

No way Auburn hires Leach. They want a coach that runs the ball, controls the clock and plays defense. They've had enough of the spread. Leach doesn't meet any of those criteria.

I heard Arky put a clause in his contract that he cannot go to another SEC school.

This is true....Finebaum interviewed Patrino's (sp) agent/lawyer today and he said that was reason number one they can't get him. The other was that they would have to spend combined nearly 9mil out of the gate before they ever got to contract negotiations. (6 mil to TT and 2.8 to Arky for CP.)
