Tucker Carlson leaves Fox News in wake of Dominion defamation settlement
The fringe drove/drives their ratings though. Tucker had by far the highest-rated show on that channel.I thought they’d take a hit from O’Reilly and Beck leaving but those guys just became fairly obscure. As long as they find somebody who can keep making their viewers feel self-righteous annd angry, they’ll only lose the fringe that was really dedicated to Carlson.
His ratings are too high for it to be for any other reason than the text messages which were publicly revealed during the discovery phase of Dominion's law suit. I think the text which hurt him the most was the one where he was calling for a Fox News reporter to be fired, just because she fact-checked one of Donald Trump's election fraud claims on Twitter. I think that angered the journalists (Bret Baier, Neil Cavuto and Howard Kurtz) on Fox News ... A LOT!So was he one of them directly responsible for the statements that led them to settle?
Or is this just to shed a large contract?
