Tuesday Practice Notes

I interpret this as confirmation that the QB situation is more glass half empty than it is glass half full.

What I mean is that Bajakian's quote here indicates that the lack of separation at QB is a function of none of the 4 developing into a serviceable QB, rather than it being a function of all 4 improving and competing at a high level, as some have postulated.

Not trying to be a negavol, but this comment from Bajakian worries me.

Can you name a time since last spring when Worley was not A) taking 1st team reps and B) not almost always going out first with the 1's? Worley is on top for now with everyone else chasing.

Don't let "team Riley" fans read that he was practicing with the second team. :)

That was in fact not true: Here is the corrected version:

The second team was fortunate enough to practice with Riley Ferguson today. They are always honored to get snaps with the first team QB.

A Riley Ferguson autograph booth was made available for the non-starters, and selfies were only $5 extra for teammates and staff.

Worley is clearly playing better than anyone else, which is why he is still getting the majority of the snaps with the first string. Bajakian doesn't want to say, "yeah, Worley is our guy and the others have a lot of work to do," cause if he said that then Peterman, Dobbs, and Ferguson quite possibly quit putting forth the effort and start looking at transfers.

Worley and Ferguson are very tightly battling for the starting position. The other two aren't in the QB competition.

I think Ferguson will win the job.

NASA pulled him out of drills today...something about an incoming asteroid hurling towards Northern California.

Haha seems legit. I really like Josh, the dude is exactly what a student athlete should be. But it just seems like Worley and Ferg have pulled away. It seems like they were the only QBs to take snaps during the team period, or at least the only two mentioned in every article.

*TennesseeÂ’s nickel defense, which you will probably see them run more than their base 4-3 look, featured Maggitt at one end and Corey Vereen on the other. ThatÂ’s a disruptive combination than most teams will struggle with.

Can we talk about that statement for a second?

Yeah, that's probably going out on a limb. I just want to put some sort of pressure on the QB because, quite honestly, we haven't done that against a team not named the Kentucky wildcats in a few seasons now.

Lol. Not sure if serious. If you are I don't even know what to say. You think its a coincidence that Peterman and Dobbs haven't even sniffed a starting center in the last 2 weeks? Maybe my sarcasm meter is broken...

If Dobbs isn't the starter could he then join the baseball team and quit the football team and keep his scholarship

Scholarships are renewable annually. He must be a member of the team to have his scholarship renewed each season.

This is more of the same from fall camp last season, nothing new here. Getting to six wins this year will be a challenge without a quarterback that can be a playmaker instead of just a game manager.

The only way Peterman or Dobbs see game action next season is on special teams as a kick/pat holder or both Worley and Ferguson get injured like last season.

Coach Mahoney looks like he's dropped a alot of weight. Setting a good example for the O-line. Stripling with high praise for Kyler Kerbyson. Good to see Knoxville kids DY, KK and Jacob Gilliam doing so well this spring.
