He was on his way to being a solid back. I watched both him and Byrd for 3 years at Naples and they had great potential. Carlin was running hard and fast at TN. He should be allowed to fight for his position. He lead the team in yard per carry last year. I hope he gets an opportunity because he would be effective. Byrd was the biggest freak athlete in SW Florida and it’s been disappointing seeing talent wasted. I’m happy they are at Tennessee. Made me a true fan of the team, but I sometimes think they would have been better off accepting some of the other offers they had. They don’t quit though. So, Go Vols! I hope their time is coming.

Byrd has the speed to be elite. Either way he will make it to the NFL, with him not taking many hits in college he should have some longevity there as well when he goes.
