Internet service to my home interrupted ~2&1/2 hours ago. I have an appointment for tomorrow morning (first available), but AT&T has messaged that they’re working on a service interruption. I’m hoping service will be restored before tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, I’m watching dvds. Just finished Le Mans with Steve McQueen.

Steve McQueen’s Le Mans is a noble failure of a movie. Preceding it by 3 years, the truly innovative “greatest racing movie of all time,” Grand Prix set the bar. I’m watching it, now.

I will investigate digital antennas and consider getting one for when Internet access is interrupted.

Surprised That World According to Garp remains quite relevant. Saw the movie version of the novel this morning and first read it at least 35 years ago. Hope to check with son tonight to see how academia views the novel today. We gifted him Irving's latest opus during the holidays and hope he can find time to read it before returning to classroom this month

That is among my favorite movies. Haven’t watched it in a long time.

Landing the airplane is epic.
My friends parents house had in fact been hit by an airplane long Before the bought it, a bomber specifically training during ww2 there still a noticble indent to structure where engine hit…..wasnt a detraction it was a feature. You had to figure if the house could take that….it’s alright…. Big ass white columned southern home on the ridge……that was the most fun place to spend the night at, it literally had semi secret passages ( utility paths for pipes etc) in it like a scooby doo house.

One of my favorite books is Irving’s A Prayer for Owen Meany.

Were any of you in Nashville maybe 15 years ago when the library selected A Prayer for Owen Meany as the city-wide read? At the end of the weeks that were allotted for the read, Irving came to town. He spoke at the Ryman on a Saturday morning. He gave the audience an example of how - in his mind - he heard Owen Meany’s voice. It was pretty cool.
