Two Main Reasons Why We Lost

A couple of things:
I think on the throw to Castles in the end zone you're talking about, the ball was tipped at the line

There was a BS call against our D--Beasley, I think--for delay of game because he was lining up one of the other LBs by clapping his hands. I'm thinking it gave the gumps a first down. Never would have been called on Bama.
Yes it was tipped, BUT he was holding him in the route before the ball was thrown. Badly too

We lost the game in the first half when we had to settle for 2 field goals. You have to put a team like Alabama away when you can and we didn’t do it. We are just hamstrung when your wr group can’t get separation and when your qb can’t hit them when they do consistently.
I'd say the game was lost in the first 4 mins of the second half when the defense was pretty much in their street clothes. Absolutely zero excuse for giving up a 2-play, 41 sec drive out of the locker room. Then the trash that was ensuing kickoff.

1.) Heupel called a tight 2nd half. I know the defense was playing well but it seemed like his intentions were to sit on the lead and hope the defense keeps Bama’s offense off the field.

2.) Officiating was atrocious.

• Missed PI call on the Bama defender considering he never turned around and looked for the ball.

• Burton makes the catch and kicks our player. Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that was never called.

• Bama OL choke holds Tyler Baron and somehow, no holding penalty was called.

• Castles was held in the end zone by the Bama safety that would have resulted in a TD, no holding penalty was called.

• That fair catch might have been the worst call I’ve ever seen considering his arms aren’t even above his head, yet that means he’s giving a clear signal?

Heupel did some great things tonight but the 2nd half was probably his worst coaching job since he’s been at Tennessee.
Hard to coach when the game is already decided by the refs. This needs to be investigated!!!!!!

somewhat agree, but a dropped Keyton pass would have been a first down and kept the drive moving. A dropped Webb pass and same result.
With our offensive scheme a dropped pass which kills the drive, hurts us more than most teams.

true, but one of the FG's resulted in our TE being held and couldnt catch a sure TD. The TD throw by Bama at the beginning of the second half was because there was not one but two Holds that werent called and Bray would have crushed the QB if not being held. He had a dead bead on him and no way he would have got that ball off. Matter of fact, it had all the look of maybe a fumble by the hit. Looked like omari thomas was being held on the same play coming up the middle.

All of these are true. I'd add the HC made a really bad decision to go for fourth down near midfield early in the second half. Im not second guessing either i was against it before we even lined up. The biggest play last week against a&m was downing the punt inside the one.
If you watch that play, we had a backup tackle at right tackle and his job was to help with the down lineman and then come off to block the linebacker if the linebacker scrapes. He never came off and the LB made the tackle. If he just comes off and gets in the LB's way a little, that could easily have been a touchdown because I don't think they even had a high safety on that play. Great call, bad execution.

On the last play Squirrel was held all the way across the end zone.
He was but rubes on here are blaming Joe for a bad pass when he threw to where SW should have been...that's been all season long...not all the passes are because JM is inaccurate slot are because the other players are running poor routes, are slow and getting held or 0 separation
