Two things that kill Tennessee basketball right now

We've been described as a very physical team by opponents for the last two years, though I'd say our defensive physicality has been less apparent in the last half of this season.

1. Other than Grant Williams and a very few others, we just don't get aggressive strong physical players. We have way too many iffy players that lack physicality, can't dribble, aren't that athletic, can't get to the rim. I would trade what we have for Miss State's team and philosophy any day.

2. Lack of confidence. Vescovi and James look like they need a psychiatrist to get them over their lack of confidence. They look like they would rather die than take an open shot because they already know it's a miss.
Well the no.1 team in the land just lost by almost 30 today. Not to mention, Bama, UK, and USCjr all got spanked. These tourneys just don't mean much anymore.

This overreaction thread reminds me of the poll that was posted just a couple of days after we beat LSU in Baton Rouge in OT; our QB was Rick Clausen. The poll asked, who was the better player Rick or Casey. I could not believe that Rick won the vote by an overwhelming amount........talk about a knee jerk reaction.

Maybe Barnes need to drill it in their head before the game even starts that we are already 20 points behind to get our mojo going before tipoff.

No one is screening. But when one is a regular in the forum, it’s quite obvious when the wave comes after losses. It’s about par for our society- people would rather talk about the negative instead of the positive. It’s like clockwork around here and easy to see.
that happens in all walks of life- folks are more apt to say something when things are bad than when things are good. It's human nature. Nothing new here. As soon as someone post a critical comment they get called a troll or some other childish name. Maybe there should be a special forum ---call it Sunshine Vols where it's all glowing and rosy comments and nothing else.

Yep, look at teams like Houston, Miss st, and south carolina. They look dominant
Newsflash, I took your advice and watched Houston last night.
HOUSTON got BLOWNOUT by 28 points with walkons playing the last 2 minutes for ISU or it would have been 30 something loss.
& USCjr got blowed out too, MSU lost too.

Said it before...I think we'd be in a better place as a team at this point in the season if Vescovi and JJJ hadn't returned. Sure, we'd likely not have the regular season title and as high a seed, but I think our makeup and prospects for the tournament might be better. We'd most certainly be further ahead for next season if Carr, Dillione and Estrella had gotten way more minutes. If nothing else, we'd have a much better read on those guys to use in guiding our recruiting both in HS and in the portal. As they say, hindsight is 20/20, but at least we have a regular season SEC title to comfort us, right?
It’s not just you. This whole thread has been said before. And before. And before.

Some folks need negativity like a drug.

Yep, Tennessee got killed with a regular season SEC Title this season. How many of those have been won in the program’s entire history?

Just terrible!

Good lord, last 2 seasons the entire basketball world coaches/media were complaining about our physical players and style of play. Now the lowering the head and driving to the rim I agree with. Kennedy was the last guard that was looking to take it to the hole first option every time he got the ball. MUS looked like a driving team simply because we missed all those shots and they got down court before we could setup our defense. Make a few shots, setup and they would be turning the ball over.

If we’re talking hypotheticals—losing Nkamhoua and Plavsic is hurting more than we realized. Aidoo is great he just can get shoved around by a big that the refs let do whatever they want-like Matthews kr that other scumbag from Miss St.

If we had either of those two guys from last year, I think we’re complete.

Well, if Vescovi and James stopped being terrified of their own shadow. I love those guys. I wished they’d just shoot the damn ball.
They are a combined 3-25 the last 2 games and you want them to shoot more?

Come on Sport Fanz.........................This is Coach Barnes predictable season end!
It is why he was let go at Texas after what could appear as a good program. Tennessee has been the same...........spurts of Greatness followed by early exits in March.
Good Guy Good Coach..............just folds in March!!
What a miserable world you live in

As bad as people talk about Barnes exists, it is no where near Calipari right now. In fact, we have held the SEC banner outside of Arkansas the last couple of years. Alabama, Kentucky, and Auburn haven't been lighting it up either recently.
