'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

Scheme Versatile: Haynes King

Haynes King’s unique blend of skills was on hand over the course of the week. First, he tested as the most athletic quarterback on hand, posting a 4.52 second 40-yard dash, 4.02 second shuttle and 36.9 inch vertical. He was also the most comfortable in working from under center and got excellent depth in his drops, which shouldn’t be a huge surprise given his experience running a pro-style offense at the high school level. King could fit in nearly any system at the next level (here’s the latest on his recruitment). He has the athleticism of a 1,000-yard rusher but is also advanced in synching his feet and eyes in his drop.

Best Feet: Haynes King

King’s well-rounded athleticism transfers to his footwork. He had the quickest and deepest drops of the group and was outstanding on rollouts and bootlegs. In fact, it’s not out of the question to wonder if he’s better throwing on the run than stationary at this juncture.

Elsewhere, all eyes remain on Haynes King. The Texas quarterback spent last week on the lake with his family but did not leave with a decision. A choice could come at anytime, with some believing he’ll choose between Tennessee and Texas A&M before his senior season. That’s certainly not a given, though. Tennessee is more than willing to wait, as it has that luxury with Harrison Bailey already in the fold. Chris Weinke and the rest of the staff remain in constant contact with King. Recently, A&M did get a commitment from 2021 stud Eli Stowers, which didn’t go unnoticed. People in Texas told us this week that the longer it goes the more it favors Tennessee.
The "latest" on Haynes

He could move to WR with his size and 4.5 speed.
I like it when Tennessee QBs move to WR.
