Memphis was the first school to offer, but the Vols came on strong after Williamson’s camp performance and held off a charging Texas A&M team for Williamson’s commitment.

My point is King’s aTm commitment seems to overshadow our commitment to a few folks in this thread.

Agreed but some of these people need to get their heart off their sleeves. He chose a&m and it is what it is. We have a qb that has been getting looked at since he was 14 not the last couple of months and there are more pressing concerns needed than a qb at this time. We do not know how good he is just because of this guy says so or what. Good luck to the kid and he will find out what a pos he will be coached by. Texas kids 95 percent of the time Texas schools.

May I ask why that is? Is that in reference to Bailey, or is A&M's QB situation that much more favorable?

I think he made the best decision for himself. I would have been surprised if he chose us over atm with Bailey already here. I ain't sad about it though; I really like Bailey. Kid seems all Vol and has recruited hard for us. We need more like him.

I kind of figured, but it does make it seem like he's "afraid" of competition. Not saying it's true, but maybe that means from what King has seen from Bailey bodes well for us lol.

If he was afraid, we wouldn't have been in consideration. Situationally aTm just made more sense.

Not to mention Maurer is a bigger (by then more experienced) version of himself. Which may have played as much if not more of a role in his decision.

If he had been leaning very much TN and had backed off because Bailey came after, it would almost be an accurate description.

But he almost chose us with Bailey already on board.. And he liked A&M as much, it does make more sense to give himself the best chance possible. Smart on his part, imo.

Jake already answered... but aTm just looks to be a quicker path for King. Competition is healthy, but in the end, both guys want to win the job. Bailey is a long-time commit, will be on campus in January and has been working hard to transform his body for SEC play. Nutrition, weightlifting, gaining speed-- he's coming in ready. Not taking anything away from King-- it would be great to have them both.
