'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

Sooo he completed 3,879 yards off of merely 266 attempts? Do you understand how INSANE that is? That is 14.6 YPA!! That would be 3 more YPA than anyone in CFB this year and almost double JG.

As for 59%...you do realize that's not that bad right? It is about the average in college...the fact that he was below that only 5/16 games is great. 69% total. Only 4 college QBs were above that last year...that is crazy good.
Im not taking anything from the kid. He's good. But the fact that his team was 16-0 state champs and him only throwing around 18 times a game on ave tells me he had a lot of elite help around him that he won't have at UT for a while.

Actually he 1) has better stats, 2) they just saw him in camp and liked him a lot.
Who wouldn't like King in a camp? Who wouldn't like Bailey? And I can't speak on Bailey just yet because I've forgotten his stats since I checked him out but bigger numbers is expected from a kid that played 16 games vs a kid that played in 11.

fwiw I abhor total stats. Not going by that. But 14.6 YPA and a 10.5 TD:INT ratio is just INSANE.

Which speaks loudly to my point I just made. Yes its very impressive. But you have to realize that an average hs runs 55 plays a game. If he only threw it 18 times on average that must mean they are a very "run heavy" offense. In turn you would have to assume that the defenses were playing run on most downs correct? And if so doesn't that mean due to their success running the ball that the corners were likely "peeking" into the backfield when he did throw? If you answered yes then we just discovered why his stats are so "insane". It had just as much if not more to do with his team than it did himself. That's not the case with Bailey.

If you can sign a top tier QB, you do. If you can sign two, you do. Competition breeds excellence. If you have 4-5 QB's and 1-2 transfer, oh well, recruit more QB's in the next class. Doesn't hurt Clemson, Bama and UGA when they do just that. Why can't we?

Jim Chaney is now in charge of the offense. Did he recruit any of our current QB's on the roster? Did he recruit Bailey to UGA? Maybe Jim wants King more than any other QB we have. Maybe he wants Bailey and King. The fact he started following multiple QB's in the 2020 class on twitter the week he was hired is a pretty good indication he's QB hunting.
Actually yes he did recruit one of our qbs at UGA. Its just that no one knows because he didn't post any new offers after committing to UT. But UGA was after Maurer pretty hard especially after the Helton news from what I've heard

Our OL averaged about 305lbs per man last year, not sure getting our guys to average 345lbs is the answer. Agree that we were weaker than we needed to be, but our technique, attitude, toughness and mental acumen were atrocious and more the problem(s) than anything else imo.

I didn’t mean literally 40 pounds. I was referring to Pruitt’s reference to the one lineman that had gained 40 as an example of how ineffective S&C has been. Weak men are weak, regardless of what they weigh. We are in the 2nd year of a proven commitment to doing it right with guys who know how to do it right. It will start showing on the field.

And I agree that attitude is as much a part, but I believe attitude was a symptom of a larger problem that no longer exists. They are going to be better. I believe this team will surprise some people.

This is totally false.

Its wasn't intended to be a secret. That was Maurers choice. I actually respect the fact that he didn't want the attention after committing. It says a lot about his character.

He used to do a podcast called "Rocky Talk". They shut down for one reason or another and now it's called "Locked On Vols".
You mean Josh Ward from the Sports Animal. Feel beyond comfortable that the great John Ward never did a podcast.

247 podcast mentioned that A&M just started to recruit King. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him commit there on his visit.

I like Josh, met him several times. Love to listen on air, well, its ok...however his podcasts arent good. They arent near as bad as Wes Cucker.

Hubbs and Co are most tolerable.

This is one of those post that is thrown out out so in case he does the "see I told you guy" follows. Then the op can say "check my stats" from now on. lol
