TX QB Kaidon Salter (Liberty signee)

I listened to today’s podcast.
Here’s what I remember him saying:
Pruitt WILL be back in 2021 no matter what happens for rest of this season.
He has this on good authority (Fulmer).
DOug said JG should never play another down at UT. Doesn’t understand why other 3 QB’s weren’t properly prepared.
If they are so bad, why were they recruited.
Blames Weinke, Chaney, and Pruitt but mostly Pruitt.
Tee or Chaney should be QB Coach.
There will be a lot of staff movement after second signing day in February.
Says this team has enuf SEC caliber talent but hasn’t been coached up.
Says he thinks our recruiting class will hold with few defections.
Says it will be Pruitts most “athletic” class.
Overall, his attitude (which, of course, reflects the thinking of his good buddy Fulmer) is that Pruitt is still able to get it done here. However, he needs to fully trust Chaney with the QBs and the total offense. Says that Pruitt can NOT stubbornly play great practice players that don’t perform on Saturday.
Said we have some really good freshman and sophomore talent being wasted on the bench.
Says he expects them to play more in these final 3 games because Fulmer had told him his job is safe even with a 2-8 finish this year and even if those are blowout losses. (His show aired before the news broke that Vandy had fired Mason). He said we have much better talent than Vandy, similar talent to TAMU, and other than QB where they are hugely better than Vols, that overall we have talent not all that far behind Flotida
Said everything and EVERYONE in our football program must perform in 2021 or expect a total housecleaning then.
Always a year too late.

Is Doug Matthews enough of a source that it can be 99% certain that Pruitt will get 2021? I don’t know the reputation of all the UT sports pundits. Is he always right or does he miss sometimes?

Always keep in mind that he goes back 30 years with Fulmer. If Phil has a suttle media mouthpiece when needed, it is likely Matthews.

If the big boosters want Pruitt gone he is gone. Doesn’t matter what Fulmer wants if this happens.
Other than the Pilot and Dish Network guys, who are our biggest (deepest pockets) boosters that are willing to fork out enuf cash 💵 AGAIN to pay the buyouts and attract a PROVEN winner?

Common sense should tell you Pruitt is here until the end of 2021.
Lol-That has recently been rebutted very well here on VN and in the sports world. Ref: SC and Vandy. Two weeks ago people were certain no coaches would be fired because of Covid’s impact on financials. The common sense now will tell you that it can happen here if enough powerful people within a universities admin and boosters are ticked off enough to want to make it happen regardless of the buyout. Just a really dumb post on your part. You don’t have a clue.

Muschamp and Mason didn’t get extensions. Nor does SC or Vandy have Fulmer. Face it dude. It’s not happening. You can boast whatever you want. Hope and pray till the cows come home. Pruitt will be the HC next year. If he isn’t, then we will get yet another up and comer and likely be in the same spot we are in right now 3-4 years from now. If history doesn’t tell you that we have brain dead leadership and boosters that don’t really care then you have just had your head in the sand since 2008.

I’m not boasting. Before Muschamp was fired I didn’t think it could happen and stated it frequently. When the data set changes you have to be flexible and alter your opinions. I changed mine and know it is a possibility now. The extension means very little. Apparently Fulmer will not do it this year but he can be overruled.

They did get extensions, Mason got one last season. Vandy doesn't release salaries, but his buyout is probably around the same as Muschamps at $15 million.

No way Masons buyout is as big as Muschamp. Also, neither schools have Fulmer. He isn’t gonna fire his boy.

I think that would be a fair grade. Kid obviously has a sky high ceiling, this kid could possibly be what T. Boyd was to Clemson. Pruitt has to leave Chaney alone if he gets next year though.
he needs to leave everything but the defense alone. and honestly should leave that alone too.

I don’t think he should leave it alone, the defense has actually started improving and blitzing more... I honestly believe that was Pruitt. I think Ansley was calling an NFL style bend don’t break and trusted the line to apply pressure. Outside of an atrocious breakdown they played well against Auburn and good enough to beat Arkansas. If our offense wasn’t more stale than the queen of England’s butt burps they probably could have sustained that level of play.

Pruitt has been known to love bringing heat, Ansley wasn’t blitzing anywhere near as much as we did the past few years. I think Pruitt was right and stepping up the pressure packages.

Just to be clear, I don’t mean to say Bailey can’t be that guy either. The most impressive thing I’ve seen from Bailey is his poise. He looked leaps and bounds better and more comfortable in his second true outing. He threw great throws on the few pressures he saw to the tight ends especially since those pressures were coming through the A gap in his face.
