TX QB Kaidon Salter (Liberty signee)

4-8, 5-7, 8-5
Last 3 years of UT football. If you think kids only care about wins and losses then yall wouldn't be recruiting as well as you have been.
Why randomly stop at 3 years ? Why not an even 5?
9 wins
9 wins
4 wins
5 wins
8 wins
Including 3 bowl wins.

Why not mention we're 13-5 vs Arkansas?
Flying to Knoxville is quicker than driving to Arkansas.
Tennessee has one 4 win season in 122 years. Arkansas has 4 in the last 15 years.

Why am I even bothering, though. It's Arkansas. Likely not even being seriously considered and ranks either 13th or 14th on a list of SEC teams to worry about going forward.

Only went back 3 years since that's when he started high school. About the time he probably started looking at the next level with serious interest. Ole Miss attracts top recruits and they aren't really competitive. We can all agree Tennessee is a much better destination if you only compared the football side of things. Whats yalls record against UF and Bama over the last 15 years? Should any recruit deciding against Tenn and either UF/Bama choose the latter since they have dominated the head to head? For the record I fully expect him to commit to Tennessee on 5-10. As of now and since I started posting Tennessee has led but others are making this a more difficult decision for the family. Just look at the Wilcoxson recruitment if you want to base everything on crystal balls. There will be lot of pressure to stay closer to home throughout his senior year as with any recruit 14 hours away. He has 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Flying to Tennessee may be faster but driving is much cheaper.

Arkansas is just so so so far down the pecking order at this point - and he's not choosing between us and Alabama or Florida so that seems quite irrelevant. If that were the case, I could understand a football decision of going to either of those programs. They've proven they can do it. Arkansas never has in my lifetime. Plus it's essentially middle of nowhere midwest.

Anyway, Knoxville is also the best city in the SEC. Aside from the obvious football assets, it's a decent size market itself and the proximity to Charlotte, Atlanta, and Nashville make it a great place to build connections for those not going to the NFL.

Kids do unexpected things all the time for their own reasons. Some are really tied in to what their friends and classmates do... to include those who aren't football players. Some want to stay close to home. Some want to get away. Some even have parents who won't get on a plane while others wouldn't be bothered at all by a plane trip from Dallas to K'ville. Some parents move with their kids. So we do not know what will most impact this kid... though his interest in UT seems to suggest what does and does not matter to him. Distance is likely not a factor.

That said, kids DO look at the trajectory of a program and whether they believe the coaches can build a winner. I don't hate Arkansas. I love Sam Pittman as a "coach"... unknown as a HC. However top to bottom UT has a better staff and better facilities.

Tennessee and particularly Knoxville are more appealing than most any part of Arkansas.

If the kid chooses Arkansas because he thinks it gives him an easier path to start... then I'm actually OK with that. The top winning programs pursue and get guys who think they can come in and beat everyone else out. Some of those guys end up transferring out.... and even succeeding. But that process of getting 4 or 5 of those guys going at each other all the time assures you always have great players.

Should say enough about his character when he's willing to compete with and possibly sit behind Bailey for 2 years. Red shirt one more than likely. They were blown away by Tennessee staff and facilities. Pruitt staying over on spring break to meet with him looms large. And who doesn't love the scenery of the smokey mountains. Especially coming from Texas with only rolling hills.

You had me til here. Nashville is the best city in the SEC, and that comes from someone sitting in Knoxville.

“pro style with some mobility”

The only reason Clemson beat Ohio st was Trevor Lawrence legs and he dusted their secondary. 16 for 107. “Some mobility”

TL rushed for 156 yards and 2 TDs in the playoffs. I’d say he’s as dual threat as it gets.

“Dual threat” doesn’t mean run first.
But TL is white so that means he is not DT QB.

Kaidon Salter, Cedar Hil (Texas): The 4-star quarterback will announce his college choice May 10 and right now it's an Auburn-Tennessee battle with the Vols trending in the right direction here. Salter, the No. 10 dual-threat quarterback nationally in the 247Sports Composite, visited Auburn with his parents in March during a lengthy college tour and came away impressed. Salter planned to officially visit Auburn, but no date has been set because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. And now, one wonders if that will take place should he pick the Vols, who are favored to land him.
