Yeahh Salter is nowhere near that good of a runner. His stats are pretty good for HS, but I'd say he would do well to match Dobbs's YPC at the college level. He's not Haynes King or Bryce Young when it comes to running in the HS ranks. Much more pro style, with the ability to escape if needed.

Boyd was a stout guy. Salter is leaner and seems more fluid/agile

Uh I don’t know about that. Dobbs May very well have been one of the best DT QBs the SEC has ever seen.

Dobbs was just a football player. Plain and simple. Sure wish that 16 team could’ve stayed healthy. I thought that team could’ve done some real damage that year.

Dobbs was so good he took a mid-major offensive scheme with a weak OL and excelled with his ability to escape pressure and gash defenses with his feet and he was an adequate passer. People underestimate his speed because he ran so smoothly he looked like he was gliding and somehow he shook people while gliding. He was unreal. I remember lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth about his inaccurate passing but I bet everyone on this board would give their eye teeth to have him as a senior with this team.

Couldn't hit dink or sideline passes. Mostly, he was incredible reading the field prior to taking off running.

Except JG stayed hurt in high school and played in New Jersey. While Salter plays in Texas against arguably the best high school competition in the nation

I only remember one Guarantano running play from HS highlights and that was against IMG in which there was a hole in the defense big enough to tow a mobile home through without bothering anybody.

One of the best to ever play here and probably a top 3 representative of the vols in terms of success on and off the field. Unbelievable person. Butch might be gone by year 2 if dobbs didn’t save him.

My original comment wasn't a knock on Dobbs. It was an observation from watching film on both at the same stage. You can't compare Dobbs at his best in college, to a high school Junior.
