I respectfully disagree. They are missing out on a life experience that they never can replace. I do understand why some would choose this path, but I think it comes at a cost.

Not everyone had great HS experiences lol. And a lot of people's lives just started getting good after HS, and that "cost" is non-existent for them. Training at an elite specialty school is also a life experience you can't replace, so it comes down to which life experience do you want to choose?

Yes, I read your post after I posted. I am sorry it sucked for you and I do realize that some people don't have a great experience. I was fortunate. I do think most high level athletes would likely have a pretty good experience, but I totally get your point.

I guess my high school was the only one in America where kids(usually freshmen or the socially inept) got dumped in trash cans. If so excuse my obscure reference. :hi:

Probably not the only school, but that's a pretty rotten thing to do. When I tried out for baseball my sophomore year, some of the senior players liked to spit tobacco juice on me in the shower and one senior put gum in my hair on purpose when we were watching a basketball game. Still, overall, my experience was good.

So you went to high school in a John Hughes movie?

I had a good HS experience, but I had a great college experience. Give me an extra semester of college over HS no questions asked.

It wasn't that it sucked, just wasn't anything worth preserving in exchange for not getting ahead in my future career.

College is great, but so much of college fun revolved around being inebriated for me. High school was a (somewhat) more innocent time where a lot of the fun we had was more wholesome.

The biggest downside to going to IMG for me would be missing the experience that regular high school offers. High school is some of the most fun you'll ever have and you make memories that last forever. That was my experience at least.

True, but also think if you were a high school football player the chances of you meeting the next Anna Kornikova is pretty solid..

It can also be an blessing to stay a small fish in bigger pond and leave that old crowd behind and develop into that awesome body they were blessed with.

It could come at a cost for some kids but for some it could be a saving grace. Plus, it's not like the kids aren't having a HS experience. It may not be a true experience but I feel like the benefits far outweigh the negatives. I would have done it in a second.

All valid points. One thing that I did not consider is that some of these kids transferring to IMG may not have the best home life on the planet and it might be nice to live in a HS dorm in Florida for a couple of years.

went to a private school. assuming y'all are talking availability of poon? where there is a will, there's usually a way. I mean, you may have to have realistic expectations but, that's life.

***Another IMG receiver in Joshua Moore was also invited to The Opening, an acrobatic pass catcher with extreme quicks, Moore is another that got open in a variety of ways. No question one of the more smooth receivers in the country. Invited to The Opening, Moore ranks as the No. 17 receiver in America and No. 100 player overall.
