'24 TX WR Bryant Wesco (Clemson commit)

I am not sure why everyone jumps to the conclusion that a bad game (or even several for that matter) leads to a quick decision for commits to immediately reconsider. Many of these guys, having been the best player on their teams for years, see this as an opportunity to play sooner and take that school back to the promised land.

Uncommitted prospects may feel differently but I suspect most that most who have already committed see a chance to bring the program back to prominence,
...yes, but they would be wrong. :)

Clemson will still be good this year they had two fumbles within the 5 or they would scored more points.

Their offense is short on play makers, but that becomes a selling point for them though.
If Clemson scored on both of those fumbles and didn't have 2 field goals blocked, they would've still lost by a point.

This also includes a gift when Duke fumbled in their own 15 yard line.

It wouldn't have been a beat down, but they would've still lost.

So you didn't watch the game, eh?

I see it as the NIL deals have already been agreed to instead of anything to do with sports. If you got pitched a 500k deal, it doesn't matter that alabama wins the natty but is only offer 175k, you follow the money and then try to bring the team to prominence. Again, remember this is now business not sports first. Think of it as a student athlete. Which part you think goes first, when the winning QB is on twitter begging his professor to hand in his homework late. Well now think of Kids as Assets that are athletic and do school work. The most important part is the money!

I've been slow to react to Clemson falling off because a lot of our fans typically see a negative trend and automatically project that to an imminent collapse.

But this is two OCs, and a new DC later, now. The defense didn't look terrible. They gave up 374 yards to a team whose QB is considered a darkhorse 1st round prospect. The offense, on the other hand, looked pretty neutered. They are missing the playmaker they had in the past. So does Wesco make a difference in the product, or does the product neuter Wesco?

I'm still not ready to say Clemson is doomed and headed for perpetual 8-4 seasons because the way they lost was really fluky with 2 lost fumbles on 1st and goal, 2 missed gimme FGs, a premature slide on 4th down, a tipped INT, etc. The stats from that game don't tell the story of the outcome. But if they can't figure out how to value the football and clean up the OL play, they will certainly continue this step backwards from their heyday.

When does that begin to affect recruiting? It might not be this year, but going forward, and their conference uncertainty, those things are going to start adding up.
They don’t have much of a offensive line either. And without that they are toast. GBO

Lol. Clemson is 5th in the nation on 247 talent composite. They aren’t short on playmakers.

Because this is a Vol message board and when folks smell a lil blood in the water they circle.
