'22 TX WR Evan Stewart (Oregon)

PFF grades everyone low. If you look at our games a lot of times our best graded guys will be in the 60s or low 70s.

And no, it's not weird to not count 1/2 sacks. It makes more sense when evaluating a player to count everything a 1 sack.
I get the half sack point but I wanted his pff grade because that grades him overall at his position correct?

And I get they typically grade low but if he is elite like you say wouldn’t that mean he should still be in the top percentile for his position? Not saying he isn’t, just wondering why they didn’t mention it at all..maybe somebody with prescription to PFF can settle this debate lol but I doubt it

You’re the only one talking stats and stars here. I’m glad you watched Nolen play all season (doubt that’s true, but whatever), but I doubt your ability to scout DL.

Everyone but yourself and a few other random people on VN realize this guy is elite
Count me as one who doesn’t put him in the elite category.

My argument is that people who evaluate defensive line performance for a living all tell you he's elite. PFF had him with the highest pass rush win rate in the SEC (above Carter) as a freshman. 247 has him as the highest rated transfer in the country.

Yes, he has show that capability. You don't out perform Jalen Carter without showing elite ability.
Think maybe you are taking PFF grades a little too far

I’d assume Fleming or Rogers could be had cheaper. Might see some Bama or Texas guys enter soon too
Rodgers also. I know it gets confusing but OSU actually had 2 4 star WR's from the class of 23 both hopped in the portal the same day. Noah Rogers and Bryson Rodgers both 6'2 185 freshmen and also fleming from the same class was in. Carnell Tate is the only WR from that class they have left from 4 4-5 star kids that year.

I vote we just throw Matthews into the fire

They still have Brandon Inniss from that class as well

That just reads to me like someone who is tired of not having answers regarding injuries and is tired of worrying about it.

Doesn't sound like a big deal. I think a lot of folks are taking this comment out of context.
Sounds like a head case to me.

Stats aren’t what make you elite. Yes, Carter was elite. Carter’s last season at Georgia, WN was a freshman and had a better pass rushing grade than Carter.
He for sure is elite at school jumping. I like getting strong contributors from the portal but not interested in getting guys indicating short term rental probabilities. Simply not convinced he is not a culture mismatch.

Rather have Bru than Stewart.
Bru is an all around wide receiver. He blocks great makes catches in traffic and even has the ability to get behind the defense. A true home run threat is something we need. Hopefully some can claim that spot next year.

Depends. If Stewart weren't an obvious head case, I'd take his skill set in a heartbeat over Bru. If that twit is from the same Stewart we're after, it's yet another red flag and I agree...I'd also rather have Bru. Don't need the drama and distractions kids like this seem to create. My word...after seeing that Nico looked like vs Iowa, it blows my mind that WR's aren't burning up our phones trying to get here.

Haven't seen much of that from him. Don't see the speed. He's physical, good blocker and is perfect for bodying up on a slant or a guy who won't be afraid to attack the middle of the field. A burner he is not.

I think Bru's skillset is extremely valuable to us as well. Those screens are a huge part of our offense and Bru is a monster blocking out there. I think Matthews will give us a lot of what we hope Stewart would offer.

Rather have Bru because he's also a great blocker and he also knows the system

The throw that Nico made on the sideline when he was rolling to his right..................reminds me of the "Oh my" throw that Manning made in his freshman year vs Miss. St.

Not the same kind of throw, but still, "Oh my. He's got IT."

You’re assuming all WRs watched our game like you, a fan, watched the game

So a dude that wants to be given a diagnosis for an injury that affects his body and the ability to play the game he obviously loves (I'm reading into the tweet), and that would seem to want to play for a team that would take care of him... is a head case? That's what you take from that tweet? That's one helluva stretch.

Agreed. Bru is a dog that will block well and make the tough catches when we need a play. He's not a burner, but definitely a guy that you want in the WR room.

Nico recruited Bru hard to come back. Ryan Callahan said that bringing Bru that was always plan A, due to the following reasons.

1. He's a great culture guy
2. His blocking turns our little bubble screens from 2 to 4 yard gains into 5 to 7 yard gains
3. He is bigger and more physical than any corner he will go against. Well he may not be the fastest, he can bully ball his way to multiple receptions.
4. Related to number one, his work ethic teaches the younger guys how to succeed in the SEC

If I learn anything from Texas A&m and their dominant recruiting class, it is that you can't have great talent and win without culture.

This is not a shot at Evan Stewart. I know nothing about the kid but I do know that everything I've heard about Bru is positive and if the staff wants him back that's good enough for me.
