CobbVol Comment: AU has been pushing for a commitment and he now maybe waiting ... Good for the Orange.
Even though power programs like LSU and Tennessee have been making a significant play for him this summer, Curry said that Auburn who gave him his first offer as a freshman is still in one of the lead spots for his commitment. He took his most recent official visit to Auburn earlier this month and said his feeling with the program is in a good of place as it has always been.
Auburn is a very good school, a good environment, he said. I feel like its a pretty laid-back university. The coaching staff is nice, the facilities are nice, the dorms are nice, everything is nice over there.
As Curry arrived in Atlanta for the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas, he was communicating with the Volunteers coaches. He said that the relationship with the Vols is progressing and he has a good feeling about what his role could be with the new direction its heading.
Ive built a great relationship with them as well, he said. Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt is a real cool dude; a straight-forward dude, and I think hell change the program in no time. David Johnson, the wide receivers coach is real cool as well. They let me know how they see me in the offense.
IN HIS WORDS
More on Auburn
This time just gave me the opportunity to see more, really, he said. The first time I went there I felt comfortable as a freshman and I still feel comfortable there now, so nothings really changed. I just got to meet all the coaches, see the whole town and got to experience a lot of stuff.
They really want me, their quarterback commit really wants me, he said. Ive been talking to [Bo Nix] a lot. Me and him are building a really good relationship, just talking to each other, seeing how were doing and really just getting a feel for each other.
On LSU, where he was last visited while participating in a 7-on-7 tournament
I wasnt out there for a big recruiting trip, it was mostly about my teammates getting out and working together for a bit on things, he said. I still had the chance to interact with the whole staff, talk to them and everything else and just have a good time.
They still want me and I know that Im one of their main targets in this class, he said. Theyre still coming for me hard and want me to be a Tiger. Theyre one of the main schools that has been recruiting me hard for a very long time and theyre still recruiting me hard, so theyve been doing a good job.
RIVALS REACTION
Curry said that he is looking to make a commitment in July, but if he feels as though hes not ready for that, hell likely wait until National Signing Day. At this point, hes almost certainly down to the three teams discussed, but Auburn has done a good job of maintaining a top position with him throughout his recruitment and as things have played out, should feel good about its chances. Tennessees main connection to him has been assistant Tino Sensuri, but its just as important that the Vols are going to have to convince him that his eventual place in the offense is the featured role he is likely looking for there.
