-VQThe Texas native said the visit "lived up to the hype" and could "definitely shake things up" for his recruitment.
"A lot of things are going to be looked at and reviewed before the All-American Bowl," Ellis said.
The Vols have pushed hard for Ellis for months, pitching him on the idea of playing early as a piece on offense the team doesn't currently have. Junior wideout Marquez Callaway delivered the same message telling Ellis, "I'm the one thing they're missing. They're all big guys who can go get the ball, but they don't have any speed. That's the one thing I heard before I got here and when I got here."
Doesn't make since considering his top 4 is Arizona (14 hours away), Baylor, Michigan (19 hours away), and Tennessee (15 hours away). If distance was a factor, then why would 3 of your top 4 be spread out all over the country?Simonton thinks distance could be more of a factor than he is letting on.
Jaylen Ellis is focusing on four schools — Baylor, Tennessee, Michigan and Arizona all have an “open chance” at landing him — because of how consistent they’ve been with them throughout his recruiting process.
The four-star Texas wide receiver, ranked No. 34 at his position in the 2019 class, hears from those four regularly. They all made visits during the contact period, including one day in which Ellis had lunch with Arizona, saw Baylor later at his school and had Michigan that night for an in-home visit.
Tennessee stands out for a different reason, though. The Vols have been consistent with Ellis longer than others have and, as he put it on Sunday, “they never really switched up.” Tennessee should be aided, too, by getting the last visit for Ellis, who is scheduled to announce his commitment in a little less than three weeks at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
