Ty Simpson to Bama

You're not right, you're grasping at some random thoughts that you've convinced yourself that are true. The fact of whether Freeze is clean and rehabilitated is irrelevant, even clean programs such as SC wouldn't touch Freeze, why? Auburn who's never been afraid to lay with dogs wouldn't even talk to Freeze, why? He's not the saving hero you make him out to be, in fact he's an insecure little man on social media with a past that will always follow him and black list him.

Again, Matt Campbell wasn't coming here and that's a fact. You need to stop getting caught up on the message board fantasy, I'll bet you're convinced Gruden was coming here.
You have a very poor understanding of what constitutes a, "fact." I'll go out on a limb and venture a guess that you're not an attorney.

Don't bet the farm that Freeze won't coach again at a Power Five school, most likely in the SEC. He'll be at a major program again within three years.

And unless you have written proof that we offered Campbell $10 million a year, you don't know that he would have turned down that amount.

In short, you're just talking out of your ass.

I just can't berate and belittle a kid that has NFL dreams for doing what he thinks is in his best interest of making those dreams come true.
I can if that was his reasoning. Who was the last great QB from bama in the nfl? Ken Stabler? Idk if it’s because they have it so easy in college but bama QBs don’t really do that well in the nfl. Hurd and Tua aren’t exactly lighting it up.

Recent history says no. Right now Hurts and Tua are in the NFL. Both have huge question marks over their heads. So far Bama is the path to the announcers booth. They aren't known for producing QBs, its not what they do. RB, receivers and anything on D is their forte. They ask their QBs not to screw up....they don't need them to compete, they just don't want a QB screwing it up for the rest of the team. In short, don't JG the game.

Sorry, I don’t think anyone sees Bama’s offensive production over the last several years and thinks their QB was just a ‘game manager.’ Hurts went at the top of the second, Tua was a first rounder and Mac Jones is predicted to be a mid 1st rounder this year and all 3 won championships. That is why Ty chose Alabama.

Saban will die in that office. He’s a workaholic. Doesn’t strike me as someone who would enjoy retirement.
He could and will probably die in an office, but Bama fans are so toxic I could see a scenario where Nick walks if things turned a little

We move on. Getting Simpson’s commitment would have been a good jumping off point to build recruiting in-state off of the disaster Squidbilly left us. But the staff they have put together will restore competency in that regard.

Getting the commitment of a player like Horn, a kid who has played on a high level against superior competition, will probably be more advantageous to us in getting order restored on the field.

We will get our 75-80 (Please be gentle NCAA.). The others will get their players.

It becomes a matter of development at that point, a matter of teaching and training that has been absent in too many positions at Tennessee over most of this generation.

Hopefully we finally have a staff that can put us in fighting shape where we are no longer a practice game for the elite of the conference.

Oh well, good luck to the kid, NEXT!!!
Exactly. Fans don't want to hear it, but we're going to be way down on the list at every position in recruiting. Right now there's just very little hope outside the state and as we've recently seen, the really highly rated kids will have other options and they'll take them. UT is going to have to trust this staff to do more with less for the next several years.

Just make the state of TN a priority and work on changing the culture. Hopefully, we'll have a good foundation by the time we're out from under the NCAA cloud. Until that day, I'm just hoping for fight on Saturdays and winning seasons. This admin really needs to alter their scheduling to help this staff out. No reason in the world to be playing the Oklahoma types for a while. The SEC schedule is more than enough for now.

Agreed 100%. Make in-state recruiting a huge priority. Get the best players you can from within the state that will fight like hell for Tennessee. Also, use the hell out of that transfer portal and comb the JUCO ranks! Rely on development and scheme. And like you said, L E A N on a soft out of conference schedule for at least the next 3-4 years to bolster our record! The goal while we are navigating this mess should be no losing seasons and bowl eligibility! We can worry about competing for division titles once we are in the clear of the NCAA.

Here’s a fact. There were plenty of job openings this year and Freeze is still at Liberty. Why? Because nobody and especially nobody in the SEC wants to touch him yet. Maybe down the road but not now. End of discussion.

If Heupel is as good as advertised, Bailey and Salter will be more than adequate and will get us back to being relevant.

2 years from now, there is a high possibility that Salter will have as good or better stats than Ty.

Salter and Horn may eventually get us back to the top tier in the East. Gotta have some confidence. Ty would have been a welcome addition, but
his rejecting us can be overcome.

I bleed orange, but this is a business decision and he picked a better option than UT right now. Blue chip players will go elsewhere until Tennessee proves it can develop players, compete and stabilize.

Yeah all to true! It's just a shame to see high school and college come to this point. Loved to see players (any sport) play for the fun of the game or for the love of the sport. There is still a place,,,,, some years ago my small town hosted the NAIA (t think it is called) national championship game for a few years. Now in mid- December it can be pretty bad weather-wise around here. One year it was a mud bath. A kid scored ( I think what turned out to be the winning TD) and was up to his as- in mud. A sports photographer caught it, the pic made the cover of one of the big sports covers. You still see that pic on TV now and then. It showed the thrill of just playing the game for the love of competition and love of PLAYING.

I mean seriously can you blame him we are a cluster foxtrot, and they're an absolute Powerhouse

When Heupel and his staff prove on the field that they can develop players, top players will come.
Right now we need current roster to buy in 100%.

Not really worried about the quarterback position at UT with current roster and Heupel as coach. What I think this misses is an opportunity for other in state recruits to rally around the quarterback to beef up the recruiting class. Also not sure this is completely over. If Bama's offense struggles with Bill O'Brien compared to past OCs and we exile on the offense and don't get hit by NCAA this may change.

When you get away from the mid state "click" of a bunch of teams in a small area, I don't think "playing with one of the enemy" turns guys on. They don't see and interact with each other socially very often and unlike the mid state guys who are often friends "they just know of each other". It would be more like "oh, that guy played over in Milan (or someplace quite a few miles away) maybe he will be a good player. Mid state'ers can say "yes! I like the idea of playing with my friend from ???".

I hope he absolutely flops at Alabama and ends up sitting on the bench. There are some who think Alabama already has QB material that he can not surpass. What he has not considered is that Saban will probably retire in the next year or so too being near 69 years old.
I bet Saban stays another 5 years if he feels healthy.

Salter will be All-S.E.C. before Simpson is relevant. Good luck to Him. GB🍊
Maybe, maybe not. Simpson could be a NC winning starter in 3/4 years. No one has a clue how the HS players today will be developed. I don’t know and neither do you. All we have is wishful thinking just like when I stated many times over the last 3 years that Pruitt could bring Tn. Football to relevancy.

Bama QBs tearing up the NFL currently, right?

Well, can't say bama qbs are "tearing up" the NFL, but how many bama qbs have been drafted to the NFL in say, the last 10 years, vs. tennessee qbs? I honestly don't know, but suspect its a lot more of the former.

This Simpson kid is from my hometown. I cannot begrudge anyone going to the college of their choice to play ball. It's his life.

Agreed, time will tell. The young man made a choice he thought best for his future, I don't begrudge Him for it.

He seems like a good kid and from what I have read is certainly talented. He may still consider UT at some point - Alabama and Georgia have a tendency to overrecruit the quarterback position so who knows what the future holds. Just getting a look from him under the current set of circumstances is great and we will have to gradually win hearts and minds of young athletes and get progressively better. A really top notch qb is something that we have been missing - so he could have helped, but on to the next option.

Listen dude, if you aren’t rooting against your biggest rival - and that is who he picked, no matter the reason - I don’t know what to tell you. You can play patty cake with the guy. I won’t.
The Iphone wasn't even a thing the last time Tennessee beat Alabama. They're not a rival anymore. Sucks, but the truth.
