Ty Simpson to Bama

Lifelong fan goes to Bama....2020 Keeps on giving. Just sad for us.
Sold his soul to sit on the bench and pretend to be other teams’ QB on the practice field, hoping that Lucifer’s Vessel gives him some game snaps before his eligibility is spent... 🤨

It sucks, plain and simple. I can somewhat understand but not really. If you're from a VOL family, been a VOL fan all your young life and get an offer you take it. If he's good enough he'll get to the NFL and live whatever dreams he has. But he's not thinking that way and he has that right, still sucks though

Outflanked by the gumps once again....we use McDonalds bags, but the gumps use First National Bank bags....this kid will be sitting behind the wheel of the sports car of his choice very soon.....this too will pass but I'm not sure when....

Everybody acts like this is a done deal. These kids' "commitments" are worthless. If we do have some slim chance of stealing him back it's probably not a good idea to badmouth him all over here and elsewhere. December is a long time from now and a lot can change.

Some interesting quotes from after his commitment.

“I honestly was a lean towards Tennessee through most of the recruiting process, and I would say I thought about going there because of the relationships I had there, and how comfortable I was with the people there,” said Simpson. “Every time I walked up to Neyland Stadium, people screamed my name, I knew a lot of people there, and I knew I would have the chance to be able to help put the in-state school back on the map.

“Things changed though. Different things happened at Tennessee earlier this year, and I knew after praying about it that it wasn’t God’s plan for me to go there.”

“I moved into 2021, and I kept looking at new coaches, I was able to see who won the National Championship, and I kept narrowing things down. I got it down to three, then after eliminating Tennessee, it was down to Alabama and Clemson.”

“I did go back and forth a couple of times, because each is a top program in the country, and I cannot even think of anything bad to say about Clemson. Then you have Alabama — and it is Alabama.

“Clemson is like the Disney World of college football, and I know I could go there and do well, but Alabama is different. When people have the chance to go play at Alabama, their eyes light up and it is just different.

“Tuscaloosa closer to home, they play in big games every week, and in the SEC, it just means more, so Alabama just feels right for me.

“I am already thinking about play for the National Championship, playing for the SEC Championship, and it is just different at Alabama. I will get to play in the Iron Bowl, against Tennessee on the third Saturday in October, and I will be on the big stage every week there.”

“On February 1, I knew it was Alabama for me,” said Simpson. “I looked hard at who I wanted to play for, where I wanted to play at, who I would be playing with, and those types of things to get down to the final schools. I put a lot of thought into it, and I feel best about Alabama.

“Coach Saban told me he will always have the best coaches for me, that he will always put me in the best position, and having those kind of talks with him made me and my family feel great about my future at Alabama.”

December is a long ways off. If we have an exciting brand of offensive football this fall maybe he’ll change his mind.
I doubt it but who knows.

I counted 4 QB's on alabama's roster, recruit Jalen Milroe makes 5 and Ty Simpson is 6, Bryce Young seems to be the heir apparent , Gained experience behind starter Mac Jones ... played in nine games during his first season

Yeah...uh...no.

If I want to go into medicine, I choose Harvard or Yale Medical over UT.
If I want to go into engineering, I choose Georgia Tech over UT.

What in the world does being a fan have to do with choosing what you feel is the best option for your future?

The guy made his choice based on historical evidence. We can move forward and find someone who wants to be here and wants to help turn the ship.
You definitely make some good points but, being a lifelong Vol fan, I could never have chosen Bama. Too much deep seated hate there for me. Clemson, maybe. Don't blame him though, was his decision to make. It is what it is and I'm really not worried. Wish no ill will on the kid, injury wise, but couldn't care less if he never sees the field or wins a game. Really believe we'll be fine at QB without him. Really like what you said about finding someone that WANTS to be here. Agree totally. I'm really hopeful Heupel can right the ship and do more with less for a while. Go Vols!

If he was coming to UT before Pruitt was fired then he is the worst decision maker in the history of mankind. His offenses were horrendous and qb play under Pruitt was criminal. UT hires an actually pretty good qb coach with fairly successful offenses but changes his mind? Your assertion does not compute

It isn't an assertion. It's what TS said himself.

Don’t blame the kid for choosing Bama, he wants to play for a winner. Tennessee is far from a winner, it’s a train wreck!

Dont hold back, bruh....how do you really feel :)

This is sadly nothing new.Bammer has always had their pick of Tenn. HS players. The really great players like E.J. Junior and Antonio London have gone there. We are just a bunch of unfortunate hillbillies that don't deserve a decent fb program! It makes me angry but what is a man to do?

The SUV thing is actually legit for Bama. There’s a kid that went to Bama from the same area I live in and the same day he signed with Bama his parents went from driving a beat up old car to a brand new Hummer. The vehicle was nicer than the car and house if that tells you anything. And then the Tua family just didn’t move there entire family to Alabama form Hawaii on there own dime I’m sure.

It would have been easy to establish the origin of the vehicle so why didn't you contact the NCAA?

I've been reading some of the bammer propaganda since Simpson committed today.....the bammer insider rag stated that the staff "relished" taking the kid away from his state University, even more than taking him from Clempsin......they said his recruitment seemed to be more about keeping him away from bammer's rivals than any immediate help he could offer on the field to bammer......to me, this is just lowdown, cold-blooded, stock-piling of talent the way bare used to do.....it's just plain wrong but completely within the rules....the kid himself and his family have no idea how they are being used by these unethical, immoral recruiters.......

I believed this when I was younger.

Wanted to go into the military, so I went to West Point.

Wish I'd gone to Tennessee.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the great education and all the advantages the Academy gave me. Will appreciate it until the day I die.

But I still wish I'd gone to Tennessee instead, through the ROTC program, because Knoxville was where my heart was. I would've still done just as well in my military career, because that was based on who I was and how hard I worked, not where I studied.

I remember one of the years I was a cadet, Tennessee and Army played. I didn't get to go to the game--I think it was in Knoxville--but I listened to it on the radio. And rooted for the Vols the entire time. My buddies in uniform might have thought I was a bit of a traitor. I knew I was being loyal. Just a more deep-rooted kind of loyalty, one that reached all the way down into my blood and bones.

Yes, if I were to do it all over again, I'd go to Tennessee. And I would recommend that to every young person struggling with this kind of decision: go where your heart leads you. If you're talented, you can fill in the rest.

This young fella, Ty Simpson, if he's destined for the NFL, he'll get there by just about any path he might choose. He should go to Knoxville. Because that's where his heart is.

Is that right? Are all the out of state players which UT signs also traitors?
Depends... did they gaslight home state university’s fan base? Was their dad a head coach within the homestate’s university system? Did they have offer to play at a historic top 10 program all time home state program but choose to go elsewhere? Did they go to homestate university’s chief rival? Try harder...

He is a 5-star prized recruit for Alabama. How do you know he will not be starting 3 years down and winning NC’s the road?

I bleed orange, but this is a business decision and he picked a better option than UT right now. Blue chip players will go elsewhere until Tennessee proves it can develop players, compete and stabilize.
Yes. Win and they will come.
Its just business, Charger or Chicken Nuggets, not that hard to decide.
Go Vols.
