Why do people think Tyler Summitt would be a good fit here? Is it simply based on his last name? He hasn't exactly blown the ceiling off the building at La Tech unless I'm missing something. Jody Adams gets my vote

No, sick of this fire the coach post on this board.

They have a brand new team that has to find their way...plenty of time to allow these YOUNG Ladies to come together.

Isn't Tyler Summit like 25 years old? I think that's awfully young for a program our size. Give him some time to gain experience before we anoint him. That's a ton of pressure to put on a kid.

Tyler has yet to show he can recruit top players or take a team to the final four. How is he any different than Holly? Why not hire a coach with a proven track record of success? Nepotism is not the answer!

Its been the same boring, undisciplined, sloppy basketball since Holly took over.

I agree it is (nepotism) not the answer but I think in a few years if he continues what he and Mickey are building at La Tech it is only a matter of time. Last years class he was able to get the 94th overall prospect according to Hoop Gurlz (she's considered a 4 star) and he has a decent class coming in for 2016 and is considered one of the leaders for a top 40 recruit (7th ranked guard) in the 2017 class. I understand it isn't the same as recruiting at Tennessee but if Holly continues to be clueless in the coaching department and are whiffing on need positions in recruiting and Tyler reaches the tournament and advances a couple of rounds in the next 3-5 years I think it will only be a matter of time before he is picking which big school he wants to attend. In a couple of seasons he will have the top team in Conference USA. There are a bunch of ifs but Holly seat only gets hotter if she continues to showcase her inability to adjust/adapt to modern x's and o's

The Pat / Tyler Summitt love fest that exist on this site has become quite nauseating. Pat will always be considered the dean of women's college basketball. She made it relevant, at a time when it meant little to nothing to most, and will undoubtedly be a hall of fame coach, which she earned. That being said, the game clearly passed her by several years before she stepped aside. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly in denial. She was owned late in her career by not only Uconn, but ND, Baylor and others. It's way past time the UT women's program move ahead and stop living in the Summitt past.

You're exactly dead on target here. It's just some die-hard fans that are hard-headed into thinking that Tyler Summitt is somehow this great messiah of women's basketball to come into TBA & fix all our problems & make us great Champions of women's basketball like his mommy did. Give me a break.

I've made it clear I'm not a fan of the current staff, but it would be insane to give the job to Tyler right now. In a couple of years if La. Tech is back in the top 10, maybe...

The coach makes the name relevant, not the other way around. Just because his last name is Summitt, will not make him a great BB coach.

As of today, Massey has LA Tech ranked #138. It's a long way to the top 10.

does Tyler even have any interest in coming to Knoxville ? you know all he would hear is Pat wouldn't do it that way, your mamma taught you better and lord knows the pressure the fans would put on him because of his mom,not to mention the press

I think he probably had the opportunity to be a coach here and passed it up,you know CHW would have found a spot for him somewhere ,if he had been interested, she would have done that for Pat and she has know him since he was born

Tennessee beat UConn the last 2 or 3 times they played. Admittedly, those were down UConn years, but they still won.

They were fine until Parker graduated.

LOL, I'm guessing you believe the reason UT and Uconn stopped their yearly series was because Gino took recruits to ESPN, instead of the real reason, which was Uconn kicked UT's ass when they faced off in post season.

I so agree with this. A lot of good coaches with proven abilities. Tyler may be good someday, but not anytime soon. Our need is now.
