typical vandy thread

I wasn't trying to tear Tennessee down. If you know me then you'd realize I support UT just like all of you do. A lot of my extended family lives in Tennessee or just prefer them over Kentucky. I grew up having Kentucky/Tennessee shoved down my throat. I chose Kentucky as the school I mainly support and Tennessee the second. I'm just as frustrated how the Vols are right now. If I came off as trying to simply tear UT down, then sorry. I like the Vols, why else would I be here? I wasn't trying to talk crap. Just a little tough love toward the vols.

Nice to meet you.

Sorry about my original post.

Sorry about my original post.

Don't be. I understand where you're coming from. I would have written the same thing if I were in your shoes. Re-reading what I wrote, I did come off as rude and just plain troll-ish.

Now lets get back to the original topic.

I'll just sum up what I said before.

Vanderbilt is better than they have been in the past but I still think they're a .500 team and I don't see them winning the East any time soon. Tennessee has been down but between them, Georgia and Florida with money and facilities they posses, one of the three should always finish ahead of Vanderbilt. South Carolina is a solid program too but I'm not really sure about their facilities and how much money they have. Have they caught up?

Even if Franklin were to turn Vanderbilt completely around, I'd have to believe he'd immediately have a better job offer worth more than Vanderbilt could afford. Not to mention it would be easier to recruit because the admission standards are low. If he ever puts Vanderbilt in position to win the East, he'll probably be gone at the end of the seaosn.

Also, South Carolina didn't look like a top 10 team.

Maybe they'll turn it around but they won on 7 of 15 passing. Their running game was good but 17 points against Vanderbilt? That won't get it done against a lot of teams they'll be facing.

SC might turn it around but that game alone wasn't very impressive.

So basically you said Vandy will never be successful?

I can believe that.

Pretty much. lol

It depends what you consider successful. Finishing above .500 would be considered successful for them. I just can't envision them winning double digit games. There might be an off season where they win 8 but anything more than that and I'd be surprised.

That's a very good point. Standards are so much different for schools. For Kentucky, I personally would consider 6 wins successful. Brooks got us to that level and we should not be below it. I'm sure other schools in the sec would shudder at that thought.

That was a good four year stretch for Kentucky.

I know they beat LSU the year they went to the championship. They also beat Bama at some point, right? Not only was he winning 7 and 8 games but they were actually beating some good opponents.

Kind of joke, but I wonder if Brooks smelled where the program was headed and left. Kentucky was very competitive against a lot of schools for that period. Joker was great at OC. Wish it were the same now.

Considering UT's football status right now, these Vandy threads are pretty funny. UT has no right to laugh at Vandys current program (based on records). I'm pretty sure it was UT last place last year in the east. Pot meet kettle.

That all being said, I don't like Vandy either. I think both vandy and uscjr suck. But seriously, vandy losing wasn't helping UT at all.

Reminds me...a lot...of Brian McCat.

Never have been able to figure out why fans of completely irrelevent football programs come here to stir things up.

As UT football begins it's exodus from the sad twilight of Fulmers' final years...through the Kiffin Experiment...and now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as Dooley finally has the talent and depth necessary to complete in the SEC, posters such as this one seem oblivious to the fact that UT is returning to SEC and national prominence, while other programs...such as Kentucky football...remain mired in a decades-long cycle of occupying the bottom of the conference standings. UT spent one year at the bottom of the SEC East; Vandy and UK have their names engraved on the cellar walls.

It's amusing to read some of those posts, knowing that once they log off and go back to whatever it is they do, they haven't changed the fact that UT football has been, is, and probably always will be the team they hope they can beat once in a blue moon...or every 26 years or so.

Go Vols.
