U.S. Navy Not Fit For War

Terribly misleading headline, Tuberville was only blocking one mass promotion vote. Schumer could have scheduled individual promotion votes at anytime.
Not misleading, you just want to read it another way. Either way, he backed down.

He wasn’t “blocking promotions”. He didn’t have the power to do that.

He was blocking one mass promotion event - which required his consent.

Split hairs all you like. Just because they could have done it another way doesn't change the fact that he blocked the vote by not giving his consent. By blocking the vote, he blocked the promotions because Schumer was either unable or unwilling to take-up the vote that could have bypassed Tuberville or do the individual votes. The title is accurate to me. If it said something like "Tuberville ends blockade so promotions can finally be voted on", that would be misleading. It merely states, he blocked them and then stopped so now they can move forward.

It should say "Tuberville blocks mass vote on promotions" and explained in the articles what exactly he was blocking. Tuberville didn't block a single person from being promoted.

He can still block something even if there is another way around it. The real story is he caved, plain and simple. Headline should actually read "Tuberville caved and achieved nothing, vote to take place"

That would be an accurate headline.

This isn’t splitting hairs. This is just flat out wrong.

Schumer wasn’t unable.
Wasn’t an either/or.

He was flat out unwilling to take up a floor vote.

why isn't it a failure on Schumer?

he had an option, and never took it.

at the very least its just as much a failure on Schumer.

For the nth time, I never said it wasn't a failure of Schumer although in the end, it would appear he "won" since Tuberville caved. I simply agreed with the title of the article that stated Tuberville blocked the promotions by blocking the mass vote event and others were arguing that he didn't block them because Schumer "could" have done something else. Just because he blocked them and Schumer didn't take any other action for whatever reason doesn't mean Tuberville didn't block them which the others and you are trying to argue.

edit: I could case less about Schumer actions and that is not to say I am giving him a pass, my focus on this has always been on Tuberville. My part in this is simply laughing at Tuberville giving up, you all are really taking it seriously and trying to make it much more than I really care about it.

Judge Declines To Block Race-Based Admissions At US Naval Academy

A federal judge ruled Thursday against an injunction that would have temporarily halted the Naval Academy’s race-based admissions policies, according to Reuters.

Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) filed a lawsuit against West Point in September and launched a second against the Naval Academy in October after winning two cases involving Harvard University and the University of North Carolina on the same issue at the Supreme Court in June. U.S. District Judge Richard Bennett, however, ruled against SFFA’s request for an injunction, claiming that he felt the group had not proven the military’s use of race-based admissions for its academies was discriminatory, according to Reuters. I’m gonna need to see another 5 posts and 7 paragraphs before I can accurately assess “how much you really care about this” lol 🧐

Tuberville is ending blockade of most military nominees, clearing way for hundreds to be approved

Tuberville caved. He is still blocking 11 promotions for 4-star or above officers.

Using race in the admissions process to US Service Academies is a matter of “National Security interest” 🙄

He also reiterated that SFFA could not demonstrate likelihood of success because the Naval Academy’s admissions policies “serve a compelling national security interest.”
