UCLA or Utah State: Who do we want

And you’re confident in our game Saturday vs UCLA? They were one of the most impressive teams on day 1. We struggled to put Wofford away.
You’re entitled to your opinion!

If struggling against ANY team will result in 15 point wins, then I hope we STRUGGLE the entire tournament!!

Anyways, I’m ready for UCLA and continue to show doubters that we ain’t going nowhere, no time soon!

Good luck tho

Our biggest struggle is with our own offensive consistency. Has been all year. It’s the elephant in the room every game. UCLA is a good defensive team that got their offense rolling tonight.
Where do yall get these “struggles” from?? Why are yall so afraid and speaking NEGATIVE? How u want great results, but speaking negative?

TENNESSEE has been a top 5 defensive team all season, and here you go pointing out that UCLA is good defensively, as if our guys are going to shy away from another good defensive team… 🙄

Tennessee is 0-1 all time versus UCLA.

1/30/1977 (Last of the Ernie and Bernie era)

89-103

UCLA had 9 future NBA players on their roster.

Seems like everybody for TN except Mike Jackson fouled out. At the Omni in Atlanta?

UCLA was in the PAC 8. Arizona and AZ State hadn’t joined the league yet. AZ and AZ State were in the WAC.

Gene Bartow was in his 2nd and final year as UCLA’s coach succeeding John Wooden. Went to UAB in 1977-78 as AD to establish their athletic department and basketball coach a year later. He also coached at Memphis State for 4 years.
Wow, I’m surprised we haven’t played UCLA more than that. Could’ve sworn we played once when I was a kid. Very interesting.

Gene Bartow was too clean for UCLA. Under Wooden, they would make 90s Bama football blush with how open they were paying players.....

Maybe the Mountain West was just severely overrated and is getting exposed? North Carolina annihilated SDSU and this game was just more of the same. The talent gaps are pretty evident. I think we will lock UCLA down and win by 10+ points rather convincingly.

"UCLA or Uthah State: Who do We Want?"

Looks like we wanted Utah State, but will be getting UCLA.
We definitely should beat them, but they are going to be tougher then what I originally thought.

Zeigler is going to have dribble penetrate more. He is so successful at it that it boggles my mind why he doesn't do it more like we have seen him do in some games this season.
Now days, it's like every once and a while he'll be like,
"oh yeah, I'm allowed to just drive to the basket".

And Igor, well, don't get me started on him.
He's going to have do just about everything better.

This game was played in Atlanta, i watched this game on tv,
I went to the game. We were down 10 right right away and never got much closer. Cut it to 55-51 and the crowd went wild and UCLA called a timeout. They then rattled off something like 10 straight points and it was all over.

This is going to be a slobberknocker. Two teams with offenses that are super sketchy and both top notch defenses. UCLA plays defense same as Tennessee. But guess what defense doesn’t win nattys , teams that can shoot the rock win nattys. Both these teams have gotten rolled by teams that can score in the regular season. Regular season league play only gets you in the tourney , the tourney itself is a gem of a tournament . If I had to predict I’d say what ever team hits the open shots will win. If you go cold then pick up your gift bag on the way out.

Hard to take much from Utah state game. Seems like they're not that great. UCLA as far as I can tell is deep with 9 man rotation and 4 dudes who shoot >35%

We just need the Defense to show up usually does for big games. Offense will provided enough needed to win. Time of game should make no difference at this point. Could we have played better? Yes, but why not just coast when there is a bigger egg to fry. Officiating was decent. We were able to play physical without fouling.

Never forget, UCLA tried to poach Barnes after the 2018-2019 season when we went to the Sweet 16. Fitting for CRB to face against someone who got the UCLA coaching job that he didn’t take.

Did we? Led wire to wire and won by 15. A little under the spread, but I don’t know about a struggle.
Wofford just had some great timed three pointers to end some of our runs. I was never fearful of the end...watchiing Wofford just make those perfectly timed shots is was kept it from being a blowout...I mean, if they hadn't made that last 3 with seconds left on the clock, it would have been an 18 point win.

So, let me get this straight. Tennessee scores 77 against a smaller school that averages allowing 70 ppg and we are struggling offensively. UCLA scores 72 against a smaller school that averages allowing 70 ppg and they got their offense rolling?

Wofford also had several shots take crazy bounces around the rim that somehow went in. That one three pointer was laughably ridiculous.

Why do we always get matched up against LURCH in the NCAA? It looks like they hit him in the post; expect him to draw a crowd and then pass for the assist. The vols need to be stripping it away on every touch.

I think the committee under seeded UCLA.
They should’ve been closer to a #5 seed.
Notable Wins/Losses including their tourney
Wins: Michigan State, Gonzaga, Oregon (2X), Arizona, Wisconsin
Losses: North Carolina, Michigan, Maryland, Illinois , Purdue, Wisconsin

They did have some good wins. However, did also lose at home to New Mexico and Minnesota and at Nebraska and Rutgers. 5 seeds: Michigan, Memphis, Oregon, Clemson
6 seeds: Ole Miss, Illinois, BYU, Missouri
other 7 seeds: Kansas, St. Mary's, Marquette
Which of those 5 or 6 seeded teams do you think they should have replaced? To me, their resume looks pretty similar to Marquette, who is also a 7 seed.
